Stephen Tomes is the dedicated owner and Funeral Director of White Rose Funeral Service, a business he founded with a deep commitment to providing compassionate, respectful, and personal support to families during their most difficult times. With a strong foundation in care and professionalism, Stephen opened his first funeral home in Burley in Wharfedale in 2015. Following its success, he expanded the business by opening a second location in Barnsley in 2018, growing White Rose Funeral Service into a trusted and valued presence in both communities.

Stephen brings more than just experience to his role—he is highly qualified and deeply passionate about helping people, ensuring that every service is carried out with the utmost dignity and care. Outside of his work, Stephen enjoys teaching and has a particular love for Biology, which reflects his broader interest in life, learning, and supporting others through both education and service. Russell’s attention to detail ensures that every aspect of his work is carried out with professionalism and care. He also brings a warm, approachable presence to the office—often lightening the mood with his sense of humour.

Today We Meet the Team: Stephen Gallamore
At White Rose Funeral Service, we are proud to introduce Stephen Gallamore, one of our dedicated funeral team members.

Stephen has been with us for over two years and in that time has assisted with more than 400 funerals. He is often one of the first friendly and compassionate faces families meet, particularly when a death has occurred at home, in a hospice, or a nursing home.

Stephen joined our team with no prior experience in the funeral profession, but through his dedication, empathy, and commitment to learning, he has quickly risen to become a highly valued member of our team. His calm presence and professionalism have brought comfort to many families during their most difficult moments.

We are incredibly proud to have Stephen as part of the White Rose Funeral Service family.

I’m thrilled to have earned the Certificate in Funeral Practice (Cert FP). While I hold various qualifications, this one is especially relevant to the funeral profession. It provides families with reassurance that their funeral director has specialised training. The qualification covers important areas such as mortuary care management, funeral arrangements, and handling sensitive matters. I'm also excited for the rest of the team at White Rose Funeral Service as they complete their apprenticeships and continue to grow in their roles. :)
