✨ THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE ✨ There’s a subtle shift in the air now.

The deep stillness of winter is beginning to loosen and the first quiet stirrings of spring can be felt beneath the surface. We’re entering the gentle journey toward Ostara, with the Spring Equinox just four weeks away, a threshold of balance, renewal and returning light. This is a beautiful time for practice.

Not a time for pushing or striving, but for tending. For meeting yourself where you are. For small, steady acts that awaken energy slowly and sustainably, like the earth warming from within.

Practice now is about nurturing the seeds, breath by breath, movement by movement, trusting that what you cultivate with patience and care will begin to blossom as the light grows.

Everything is running as normal this week, with full details and availability reflected in the booking schedule. We're looking forward to practicing with you as we walk this quiet path toward spring 💛

For more than a year, I've been experiencing a quiet but steady pull in the background - a feeling that something was waiting to be brought forward. This retreat hasn’t come together in the way my others usually do, inspired by a destination & philosophy. It’s something I’ve felt deeply called to offer.

In September 2026, I'll be journeying in the heart of Provence, answering the call of the Magdalene journey into the Rose path - a time to step away from the noise of everyday life and return to something deeper, quieter and more true. I'd love for you you to join me...

Together we’ll explore:

• Daily yoga, meditation and embodied practice
• Teachings and storytelling from the ancient feminine wisdom stream - from the early temple traditions through to the Magdalene
• Sacred ritual and ceremony
• Time in nature and visits to places connected with her presence in Provence
• Space to rest, reflect and reconnect with yourself

Our home for the week is a breathtaking private estate surrounded by lavender, olive groves, oaks and the vast landscapes of southern France.

If you feel even the slightest pull as you read this, I invite you to follow it.

🌑 THE QUIET RESET 🌑

The New Moon arrived today at 12.01pm, opening the threshold into a new cycle, not with fanfare but with stillness.

New Moons are subtle beginnings. The sky is empty of light and the psyche follows suit, turning toward spaciousness, possibility and the gentle clearing of inner ground.

There is an Aquarian quality to this darkness - wide, cool, spacious. A reminder to loosen our grip on the personal storyline and feel into the wider field we belong to. To step back from the noise of who we think we should be and listen instead for what wants to emerge through us.

This is not yet a time for pushing forward. The seed is invisible. The work is quiet.

In yogic terms, this is śūnyatā - fertile emptiness. The creative void. The pause where the old pattern has dissolved, and the new has not yet taken form.

Let the mind unclench.
Let the future remain undefined.
Let yourself rest inside the open sky of not-knowing.

From this space, something true can begin.

🕉️ M A H A S H I V A R A T R I 🕉️ The Great Night of Shiva

Tomorrow, across India and beyond, this sacred night is marked with fasting, prayer, mantra and night-long vigil. Devotees gather in temples and homes to honour Shiva – the great yogi, the force of transformation, the one who dissolves illusion so truth can shine through.

Many stories are woven into this night. Some say it celebrates the divine union of Shiva and Parvati - consciousness and creative power becoming one. Others say it is the night of Shiva’s cosmic dance, the rhythm of creation, preservation and dissolution that moves through all of life.

In the yogic tradition, Shiva is the ultimate meditator, seated in stillness upon Mount Kailash – vast, steady and deeply present.

From our Ta***ic perspective however, Shiva is not only a deity to honour.

SHIVA IS AWARENESS ITSELF

The quiet presence beneath your thoughts.
The stillness beneath the movement of your life.
The spacious witness in which breath, sensation, emotion and experience arise.

If Shakti is the energy of life in motion, Shiva is the silent ground that recognizes it all.

Maha Shivaratri invites us to pause and remember this.

You don’t need elaborate ritual to align with the energy of the night. Simply create a little space:

Take a few slow breaths.
Sit in stillness for a moment.
Notice the silence between the thoughts.
Chant the mantra Om Namah Shivaya.

Rest, even briefly, as awareness itself.

Creating a small moment of presence or stillness on this sacred night can bring a sense of clarity, depth and quiet strength – a reminder that beneath the movement of life, there is something within you that is steady, spacious and whole.

Wishing you a peaceful and powerful Maha Shivaratri 🕉️

✨ VIRASANA (Hero Pose) ✨

At SSY we often weave Virasana into our practice as a place of stillness, integration and quiet strength. This humble seated posture invites us to root deeply, soften the efforting mind and cultivate the steady, courageous presence of the inner hero.

Though simple in appearance, Virasana offers a powerful stretch through the feet, ankles, knees and thighs while encouraging an upright, spacious spine. As the body settles and the breath deepens, the grounding nature of the pose helps to calm the nervous system and draw awareness inward.

Energetically, Virasana connects us to the stabilising qualities of the lower chakras, especially Muladhara (root) and Svadhisthana (sacral), supporting a sense of safety, resilience and embodied presence. It reminds us that true strength is not always dynamic - sometimes it is found in patience, steadiness and the willingness to be still.

Virasana is both restorative and strengthening - a quiet antidote to restlessness and distraction, inviting us back to centre and into the quiet confidence that lives within.

Specifically, the asana:

🌟 Stretches the feet, ankles and quadriceps, improving mobility and circulation
🌟 Encourages healthy alignment of the spine and supports upright posture
🌟 Aids digestion and can be a supportive seat for breathwork or meditation
🌟 Calms the nervous system, reducing anxiety and mental agitation
🌟 Grounds awareness through the root and sacral chakras, fostering stability and ease
🌟 Cultivates patience, resilience and the quiet courage of steady presence

✨ THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE ✨ The bright surge of New Year motivation has begun to soften now, settling into something quieter and more sustainable.

This is the point in the cycle where inspiration gives way to rhythm, where the energy of big intentions gently transforms into the steady discipline of simply showing up. Not through force or pressure but through small, consistent acts of care that, over time, reshape how we feel in our bodies and how we meet our lives.

Practice at this time of year is less about striving, and more about relationship. Returning to the mat. Returning to the breath. Returning to yourself, again and again . . . with patience, kindness and trust in the power of continuity.

Everything is running as normal this week with full details and availability reflected in the booking schedule. We're looking forward to practicing with you 🤍

🌕 FULL MOON ∙ SNOW MOON ∙ STEADYING 🌕 The Full Snow Moon rises into the deep heart of winter, when the land is hushed, blanketed and holding. This is not the moon of beginning again, but of staying with ... with what has already been named, felt and set in motion.

Arriving on Imbolc, this moon shares the sky with the quiet return of Brigid, keeper of the hearth, the well and the flame that survives the dark. Not yet the blaze of spring, but the first warmth remembered in the body. A threshold moment: winter still present, yet something beneath it beginning to stir.

Traditionally the Snow Moon speaks of endurance, nourishment and quiet resilience. Of learning how to tend the inner fire when conditions outside are sparse. Where the Wolf Moon called us back to instinct and listening, this moon asks for steadiness. For commitment to what we are already carrying.

Astrologically, this Full Moon in Leo, casts its light through themes of creative expression and embodied leadership - illuminating with the Brigid energy, where we are asked to show up from the heart, rather than from effort or performance. It reveals how we inhabit our roles, our practices, our offerings and whether they are being fed from devotion, or depletion.

Full Moons do not ask us to do more.
They ask us to see more clearly.

✨ What is sustainable?
✨ What is asking to be simplified?
✨ What wants warmth, rest, or protection right now?

Under the Snow Moon, presence becomes practical. Ritual becomes care. Awareness becomes the way we keep ourselves alive to what matters.

May we move slowly.
May we tend the hearth.
May we trust the long work of winter.

Steady over spectacular.
Nourishment over force.
Truth over momentum.

Wishing you a grounded, gentle Full Moon - and a blessed Imbolc - held in the returning light. 🌕❄️🔥✨

🔥🌱 I M B O L C 🌱🔥 As the first stirrings of life begin to quicken beneath the frozen ground, we arrive at another threshold. Not yet spring, not still winter - but the liminal moment where intention warms into possibility. What is beginning to move in you now? What small, fierce flame asks to be tended?

Imbolc is the festival of returning light made tangible. The days are unmistakably lengthening and deep within the body of the land, sap rises and seeds swell. For millennia, people in these lands have honoured this quiet awakening - lighting fires, blessing wells and listening for the subtle signs that life is preparing to emerge.

This is a time not for grand declarations but for devotion. For showing up to what you are becoming before it has words or form. The work now is simple and profound: to listen, to nourish, to protect what is tender.

As the wheel turns and Brigid’s fire rekindles hearth, home and heart, may you trust what is stirring in the dark. Tend it gently. Walk slowly. The light is growing and so are you ✨

✨ BEYOND THE LIGHT - MEETING SATTVA WITH AWARENESS ✨

This final blog post in the series explores sattva not as a spiritual ideal but as a living, luminous balance - and the threshold it offers beyond the gunas themselves. . .

If Tamas is the weight of the earth and Rajas the fire of becoming, Sattva is the light that appears when weight and fire find balance. It is clarity without rigidity, calm without dullness, intelligence that knows when to move and when to rest.

Sattva reveals.

Where tamas obscures and rajas agitates, sattva allows us to see clearly - not by forcing stillness or suppressing desire but by bringing coherence to the whole system.

In a world of excess stimulation and chronic striving, sattva can feel almost radical. It invites us into discernment rather than judgement, presence rather than productivity, wisdom rather than reaction. Yet even this light has its subtle edge - clarity, too, can become something we cling to.

This is the final post in our series on the gunas - the subtle textures of consciousness and matter.

✨ THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE ✨

A little later than usual, but arriving right on time for the subtle shift in the air… 🌱

As the days slowly lengthen and the first hints of stirring begin to make themselves felt, there’s a quiet sense of energy building beneath the surface. Not yet spring, not yet outward but a gentle re-awakening, a soft gathering of momentum that invites us to show up with curiosity rather than urgency.

This in-between moment is a beautiful time to stay close to practice: to move, breathe, and listen in ways that support what is beginning to emerge, without needing to name it all just yet ✨

Schedule-wise, everything is running as normal this week and all classes are going ahead as planned - full details and availability reflected on our Book Now page!

VACANT PANCHAMI ✨ SARASWATI PUJA

Today is Saraswati Puja, an ancient Indian festival dedicated to Saraswati, goddess of wisdom, learning, music and the subtle currents of consciousness.

Celebrated across India, articularly within yogic, philosophical, and artistic tradition, Saraswati Puja honours knowledge as sacred. On this day, books, instruments and tools of learning are offered at her feet and study itself is remembered as a devotional act. It is a festival not of spectacle but of refinement: of the mind, the voice and the inner faculties through which truth is known.

Within the yoga tradition, Saraswati is the guardian of vidyā - liberating knowledge rather than mere accumulation of information. She presides over mantra, scripture, philosophy, and the living transmission from teacher to student. Every chant, every teaching passed mouth to ear, flows within her current.

In the Ta***ic understanding, Saraswati is also recognised as a later, gentler form of the primordial goddess Parā Vāk - the highest, unmanifested power of speech. Parā Vāk is sound before sound, meaning before language, the creative intelligence from which all form arises. As that vast, formless potency begins to move toward expression, she becomes Saraswati: audible, learnable, transmissible.

She reminds us that words are not trivial.
Thought is not neutral.
Sound is creative force.

To work with Saraswati is to practice right relationship with the mind, with language, with learning itself - so that what moves through us carries clarity rather than confusion, truth rather than noise.

On this festival day, may we:

✨ honour study as a sacred practice
✨ refine our speech and listening
✨ remember the power we wield through words and thought

May Parā Vāk awaken as Saraswati within us, and may wisdom flow where we once grasped.

Jai Ma Saraswati 🤍
