My therapist told me...

"When a woman grows up feeling unseen, she learns to love by over-giving. She pours into everyone else, hoping that one day, someone will finally pour back into her. She becomes the caretaker. The fixer. The one who shows up, even when no one shows up for her."

And the hardest part? Deep down, she's not trying to be strong. She's just waiting for someone to do for her what she's spent her whole life doing for everyone else.

She gives without keeping score. She listens without being heard. She understands without being understood. She carries people through their storms, even when she’s drowning in her own.

She learns to silence her needs, to shrink her feelings, to convince herself that “this is just how love works.” That love means sacrifice. That love means staying, even when it hurts.

But what no one sees is how tired she is.

Tired of being the strong one.
Tired of always being the safe place for everyone else, while having nowhere to go when she falls apart.
Tired of loving people in ways she’s never been loved back.

And still… she keeps loving.

Not because she doesn’t know better, but because her heart was built that way—soft, loyal, hopeful. Still believing that one day, someone will meet her where she stands. Someone will choose her the way she chooses others.

And when that day comes, it won’t feel confusing or one-sided or exhausting.

Today (20 March) marks the birthday of late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington.

The legendary singer was an LGBTQ+ ally who often spoke of the need for acceptance.

During his last live show in. Birmingham, England, in 2017, he said, "Until all this nonsense stops, and we can start loving each other, we can stop hurting each other because we believe in something different than the person standing next to us. The one thing that can't be defeated is love. You can conquer hate by ignoring it, you can destroy it by loving the person next to you."
