International Receptionists Day
In recognition of International Receptionists Day on Wednesday 14 May 2025, NHS Highland would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contribution of receptionists working across the organisation.
Receptionists play a vital role in the smooth running of our health services. They are often the first and last point of contact in a patientβs journey, setting the tone for their experience and providing a reassuring presence throughout. Whether based in hospitals, GP practices, community clinics, or other healthcare settings, receptionists provide a constant point of support for both patients and staff.
Their role demands strong organisational abilities alongside the interpersonal skills needed to support people with empathy and professionalism. Receptionists deal with a wide range of situations and personalities with professionalism, respect, and kindness. They are often managing competing demands in busy and unpredictable environments, yet they consistently demonstrate calmness, compassion, and a commitment to helping others."
Many go above and beyond their official duties to ensure that patients feel heard and supported, and that staff have the information and assistance they need to deliver care effectively. Their behind-the-scenes efforts are an essential part of the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
NHS Highland extends sincere thanks to all receptionists for the hard work, dedication, and care they bring to their roles every day. Their contribution makes a real difference, and it is deeply appreciated.
Warm wishes to all receptionists on International Receptionists Day.
