DMB Car Seats

DMB Car Seats Advising and retailing only the safest car seats on the UK market to keep our little ones safe. I am hoping this page will help with that.

Since having my twins in 2019 I have become a huge advocate for ERF (extended rear facing) of children in car seats. I had to do a lot of research before finding the right seats for my boys as unfortunately this information is not widely available. I am by no means associated or affiliated with any shop, brand or manufacturer and all the information I give here is either stated in the UK law or be

en fully researched before being given as safety advice to parents. A car seat is one of the most important safety products you will ever have to buy for your child, so getting it right is imperative. I'm here to help you make the right decisions the first time so that you are not wasting time and money on the 'wrong' seats.

Have you met the high backed booster? This seat has been in the UK for around a year now and it’s like nothing else on the market. The perfect comfortable child seat with some amazing features, particularly good for kids who are a bit rougher with their car seats as the headrest and wings are super bendy and flexible. The tall back length, lightweight design, and easy access belt guides make this seat ideal for your child’s final stage in the car seat journey. Even better it comes with a multitude of accessories and has its own crash tested booster footrest!

Think rear facing only works in larger cars? Not necessarily.

With the right setup, even a compact car can make room for rear facing. In this case, placing two rear facing seats on the same side helps create more usable space and can make everyday travel easier.
A smaller car does not always mean you have to compromise. Sometimes, it is simply about finding a smarter layout.

A new Swedish review examined 99 fatal child car occupant cases from 1992 to 2024, looking at whether different restraint use might have changed the outcome.

Among children aged 0–3, the analysis suggests that up to 48% might have survived in a rear-facing seat.

Not every crash is survivable, and no single number tells the whole story. But taken together, the findings add to the evidence that rear-facing can offer important additional protection for children who still fit.

Sometimes the most important choice is not moving on too soon.

The amount of children killed or injuried on the roads in the UK in 2023 was over 3,350!! These children were all aged under 7yo.
That’s 9 children, 9 families and lives changed in an instant.

How can we tackle this and bring these numbers down?
How do we prevent the rise in child fatalities?

One of the easiest solutions - Keep children rear facing for as long as possible. Give them the biggest chance of survival in a collision.

Forward facing is not a milestone. It’s a massive step down in your child’s safety.

We need to remember children are not small adults. They are not as strong as us.
Even a 4yo is not as strong as a 5yo. Their bones are still too soft for a seatbelt.

Unless the child is over 125cm there are plenty of rear facing options to keep them as safe as possible and give them that 97% chance of survival in a crash.

Let’s change lives.
Let’s change perception.
Let’s change the norm.
Rear face your young children, and help bring down that 9 to zero.

🚨 Rear-facing vs. Forward-facing 🚨

Rear-facing is safer because:
👉 It offers enhanced protection for your child's head, neck, and spine during a collision.
👉 A child's head is much heavier than their body, putting their neck at risk.
👉 Rear-facing car seats 'shell' offers better protection at every impact angle in the event of a collision.

Still, the majority of children are turned forward-facing far too early. Not because parents want to put their child at risk, but because they lack the knowledge – and, even worse, because European regulation permits forward-facing from as early as 15 months.

To change this, we need to spread awareness so that more children can remain rear-facing for longer.
