Making Girdle Scones Tue 26th Aug
We asked a while back for suggestions for a baking activity and the residents were reminiscing about making girdle scones and oatcakes for their families so it was decided we would give the scones a bash with a bit of help from one of our cooks Lesley.
The residents did the mixing and cutting and they were then cooked on dry frying pans by activity coordinator. We got the teas/coffees made and laid out jam & butter in preparation for our tasty treat. The scones were served warm from the girdle (frying pan) and they passed the taste test 100%. 👍😋
The residents get so much out of these baking sessions as it stirs up happy memories of their childhood and of when their bairns were wee too

It is with much sadness we mourn the loss of one of our Pleyfauld House Residents, John who passed away on Friday 22nd August 2025 (on his 86th birthday)
We take this time to remember him, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Flora and all the family at this sad time

Making Ice cream Sundaes Fri 22nd 🍨🍨😋😋
We bought all the ingredients required for this activity and placed everything on dishes on the tables for the residents to create an ice cream sundae to suit their own tastes. We had vanilla ice cream, mini meringues, fruit, chocolate sticks & wafers and a variety of flavoured syrups to sq**rt on top. There was some lovely looking dishes. The residents said they enjoyed this activity but said they might struggle to eat their tea

Beetle Drive Thursday 22nd Aug
The residents said they enjoyed our beetle drive this afternoon.
We had 3 tables of 4 and a staff support overseeing each table. We all started playing at the same time and once someone completed their beastie they had to shout out ‘Beetle’ and everyone had to stop. They were shaking dice and drawing as fast as they could as they all wanted to complete theirs 1st..
We managed to play all 6 games. A well deserved cuppa at half time was appreciated 🫖☕🍪

Chair exercise & hocky 13/8/25
The residents were put through their paces yesterday and pretty sure they would have slept well last night ! We had the room well ventilated and the residents well hydrated as was a cosy day. There was so much hilarity and competitiveness during the hocky. It was hilarious to watch 😂

Water Colouring Tue 12th Aug
The residents showed off their artistic talents yesterday afternoon. They had fun mixing colours to create their own fancy colours. One i mixed they called 'feeachy broon' Im not sure if that was flattering or not 😆
They were really enjoying this activity going by the concentration & the quietness ! One of our care assistants, Evelyn judged the pictures for us and Andy Matthews (with a little help from Angelica) took 1st, Madge got 2nd place & June 3rd. Well done to them all 👏

It was a fine sunny morning and some of the residents enjoyed out for a walk round the building accompanied by staff. A few others joined us for a cuppa in the snug when we returned ☀️☕🫖

Lucky Squares:
We received a donation of a bottle of Whisky and a tub of sweets in order for us to raise more money for our residents amenity fund. We decided to do the lucky squares with these and have raised £100 which is fantastic!
Today we did the draw, and we are pleased to announce that the winners were:
Whisky - Raymond Rattray
Sweets - Dawn Cameron

We managed to get a photo of Raymond with his prize, and while I was handing this over to him he was delighted to then show me his extensive whisky collection.

Well done to both winners and we hope you enjoy them!
