IT'S BACK!

That beautiful golden orb in the sky has returned!

Here in Aberdeenshire we have had the darkest winter ever - the longest spell without sunshine since records began in 1957. It's been rough!

Here in the clinic, my clients tell me how the weather and environment affects their mood. The sunshine and daylight (or lack of it) can have a big impact on our bodies and minds.

Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones, teeth and muscles as well as our immune system. Our circadian rhythm is controled by light and dark - our body clock responsibile for metabloism, mood and sleep cycles needs signals from daylight to stimulate our hormones correctly. No wonder we feel so out of whack when the sun disappears!

We get so little sunlight NHS Scotland recommends everyone takes Vit D supplement during the winter months. Check out NHS Inform Scot for details and dosage.

🌀 R E Q U E S T F O R H E L P 🌀

It has been 6 months since we moved into our new premises and I have been reflecting on the changes. I'm delighted with our new therapy space and I love being part of the community of small businesses within the building. 15 High Street now feels like home for re:treat.

For those that haven't visited, I have 1 therapy room at 15 High Street - there is no reception or shop within the building.

This new space works well for me and clients tell me the space works for them too. While I'm with a client in this space I'm 'at work' but it's deeper than that - I endeavour to create a safe, welcoming environment for clients to pause, unravel, and release. This is their space and their time - it is my responsibility to hold it for them.

To ensure this space is safe and sacred, I work strictly by appointment only - when a client books with me, they have my time, space and attention 100%.

However, over the past few months this has come with challenges.

My website details that I work by appointment only and there is a sign within the building explaining the same. However, I have had customers without appointments looking for me, sometimes knocking the door, sometimes walking right in, during a treatment. Sometimes customers are super understanding and apologetic for interrupting, sometimes they are not.

While this is a rare occurrence, I do have a duty of care to the client that has booked and paid for my time.

Therefore I'm posting this reminder and a request for help with the following...

🌲 OUT OF OFFICE 🌲

It's Christmas Eve and the out of office is on. After a busy year it's time for me to rest, reset and spend time celebrating winter with my loves (both human and food).

I had no idea 2025 would turn out as it has - and this unexpected journey landed me in a new location with a wonderful new team of neighbours Laura Leslie Natural Health Natal Balance Chapman Counselling

I'm so lucky to continue to have Reiki & Crystal Therapy with Fiona Bonner by my side at re:treat. As many of you know, Fiona is an incredible therapist and lovely person.

For the first time in years, I'm ending 2025 calm, rested, supported and hopeful.

A huge thank you to all my amazing clients and customers for supporting my wee business. But mostly thank you to those that trust me with your body and wellbeing, often at very vulnerable times in life. I appreciate each one of you.

I am now closed until Monday 5th January. Fiona is available for Reiki appointments during the holidays - please check website for availability.
