Today Iām getting the final pieces ready on our site for Together in Nature ā GrowFreeās learning community and peer/practitioner training taking place this Friday and Saturday.
At the heart of this work is a simple but profound question:
What helps human beings move through life in ways that are responsive, connected and integrated, rather than fragmented into protective patterns that unconsciously react from survival?
So much of what we experience as stress, conflict, overwhelm or disconnection can be understood as intelligent survival responses that once helped us cope with experiences that felt too much, too fast or too alone. But when those responses become stuck on repeat, they can begin shaping our relationships, communities and everyday experience of life long after the original moment has passed.
A big part of our work at GrowFree is exploring how relationship, community and the natural world can support a fuller sense of self ā helping us reconnect with regulation, creativity, meaning and belonging.
Nature is not just a backdrop to wellbeing for us. It is part of the wider living system we belong to and can learn from.
Our Together in Nature places are now fully booked, but alongside it weāre also co-creating a free intergenerational community event this Sunday (17th May, 11amā4pm) with our friends and collaborators:
ACE Voices, Creative Communities Collective, and University of Aberdeen.
šæ Around the Enchanted Bench: Creative Remembering in Nature
š Cruikshank Botanic Garden, The Chanonry, St Machar Dr, Old Aberdeen AB24 3UU
Inspired by The Lost Words, this gathering explores the relationship between language, creativity and our connection with the living world ā especially the words and experiences that can quietly disappear as life becomes increasingly fast, modern and disconnected.
Across the day weāll be offering gentle creative invitations through:
⢠song
⢠art
⢠poetry & word play
⢠plant connection
⢠nature-based reflection and exploration
Youāre welcome to join us at any point between 11amā4pm (bring lunch for 1ā2pm), wandering between activities and connecting in your own way.
The gathering is centred around the bench created in honour of Juliet Robertson, whose contribution to nature-based learning and connection continues to ripple through many communities.
If this speaks to something you care about, weād love to welcome you there š±
Booking: Around the Enchanted Bench Tickets, Sunday 17 May ⢠11 AM - 4 PM | Eventbrite
