For some years we've been holding a vision for a community of like-souls creating a playground, a home, a place to learn, love and live well. Together.

Now, we 'have' the land. The folks are binding. Our hearts are coming into rhythm and it's really starting to feel fun.

We're calling ourselves GrowFree. Is it calling you?

🌿 We’ve just come to the end of two very deep and beautiful days of Together in Nature.

šŸŒ§ļøšŸ’› Somewhere between the rain, the wind, the cake, the grief, the laughter and the deep moments of human honesty… something beautiful happened again this weekend.

Together in Nature was probably the wettest and coldest immersion we’ve held so far — and somehow the weather became part of the teaching.

We found ourselves moving with the stormier, heavier and more tender parts of being human… huddled together at times in the Arcade Tent Craig heroically rescued from storage at the last minute šŸ™ … and then emerging back out into sunlight, playfulness, warmth and connection.

And once again, I was reminded why we stopped calling these ā€œworkshopsā€.

That word never quite fit.

We’re creating a community here — one that is learning together.

It felt real.
Not polished.
Not performative.
Just people willing to arrive as they are and meet each other there.

I continue to be deeply moved by what happens when human beings are given space to slow down, attune, and remember they don’t have to carry everything alone.

And with my whole heart … I adore the team I get to do this with.

Huge love to Jon and Heidi — and to every person who stepped into this space with us over the weekend. We really do delight in each person who joins these gatherings.

There’s already interest building for the next immersion in October, and we’re now beginning to weave together the ongoing online side of the community too — so the relationships and exploration can continue between gatherings.

Heidi and I are also dreaming up some more regular monthly Together in Nature days — practical nature-based community gatherings where this work sits more quietly in the background:
shared tasks, fires, growing, creativity, conversation, being human together 🌿

This little clip is from the very end ā¤ļø

More to come soon.
For now… we’re warming up, integrating, and feeling very grateful.

We found ourselves moving with the stormier, heavier and more tender parts of being human… huddled together at times in the Arcade Tent my husband Craig heroically rescued from storage over the days and weeks that led up to it šŸ™ … and then emerging back out into sunlight, playfulness, warmth and connection.

I continue to be deeply moved by what happens when human beings are given space to slow down, attune to each other and the quieter world of our nature, and remember they don’t have to carry everything alone.

And quite tenderly, I simply adore the team and community I get to do this with.
Huge love and thanks to Jon Cree and Heidi Neal — and to every person who stepped into the circle with us this weekend. We really do delight in each person who joins these spaces.

We’re also dreaming up some gentle monthly gatherings — practical nature-based community activities where this subtle work sits more quietly in the background:
shared tasks, fires, growing, processing, making, crafting, creativity, conversation, being human together 🌿

Today I’m getting the final pieces ready on our site for Together in Nature — GrowFree’s learning community and peer/practitioner training taking place this Friday and Saturday.

At the heart of this work is a simple but profound question:
What helps human beings move through life in ways that are responsive, connected and integrated, rather than fragmented into protective patterns that unconsciously react from survival?

So much of what we experience as stress, conflict, overwhelm or disconnection can be understood as intelligent survival responses that once helped us cope with experiences that felt too much, too fast or too alone. But when those responses become stuck on repeat, they can begin shaping our relationships, communities and everyday experience of life long after the original moment has passed.

A big part of our work at GrowFree is exploring how relationship, community and the natural world can support a fuller sense of self — helping us reconnect with regulation, creativity, meaning and belonging.

Nature is not just a backdrop to wellbeing for us. It is part of the wider living system we belong to and can learn from.

Our Together in Nature places are now fully booked, but alongside it we’re also co-creating a free intergenerational community event this Sunday (17th May, 11am–4pm) with our friends and collaborators:

ACE Voices, Creative Communities Collective, and University of Aberdeen.
🌿 Around the Enchanted Bench: Creative Remembering in Nature
šŸ“ Cruikshank Botanic Garden, The Chanonry, St Machar Dr, Old Aberdeen AB24 3UU

Inspired by The Lost Words, this gathering explores the relationship between language, creativity and our connection with the living world — especially the words and experiences that can quietly disappear as life becomes increasingly fast, modern and disconnected.

Across the day we’ll be offering gentle creative invitations through:
• song
• art
• poetry & word play
• plant connection
• nature-based reflection and exploration

You’re welcome to join us at any point between 11am–4pm (bring lunch for 1–2pm), wandering between activities and connecting in your own way.

The gathering is centred around the bench created in honour of Juliet Robertson, whose contribution to nature-based learning and connection continues to ripple through many communities.

If this speaks to something you care about, we’d love to welcome you there 🌱

For those of you who won’t be able to join us at Together in Nature, I wanted to share something a little special we’re part of creating this spring 🌿

On Sunday 17th May (11am–4pm) we’re holding a free, intergenerational community day at Cruikshank Botanic Garden:

Around the Enchanted Bench: Creative Remembering in Nature

This day is being held in honour of Juliet Robertson — a deeply loved mentor in nature education in this area, who passed away last year. Her husband is part of the team bringing this day together, centred around a bench created in her memory.

Together with Jon Cree, the wonderful Claire Abbott, Sandy Thompson-Miller, and a wider circle of collaborators, we’ll be opening a gentle space to reconnect—with nature, with language, and with each other.

There will be simple creative invitations woven through the gardens—poetry, art, plant connection, and shared song—alongside space to wander, notice, and just be.

We’ll begin and close together in circle, with plenty of openness in between for both quiet reflection and playful expression.

This is a free, intergenerational gathering—children, young people and adults all welcome (under 18s with an adult).

🧺 Bring a picnic and something warm to wear
šŸ“© To book: alec@acevoices.org or 07422 575711

Whether you come for the whole day or just drop in for a while, you’re warmly invited to be part of a collective remembering—of land, of words, and of our place within it.

I’m hearing this from so many people right now…

ā€œI feel exhausted… and yet something in me knows I’m being called into more.ā€

It can feel confusing to hold both at once.

But what if the tiredness isn’t a sign that something’s wrong…
what if it’s a sign that something significant is happening within us?

That we’re being asked to feel more, hold more, and move through more of the full spectrum of our experience.

That takes energy.

A lot of it.

In this reel I share a little about why I don’t hide my own process —
why you might sometimes see me moving through emotion or release.

It’s not because I’m not okay.
It’s because I’m working consciously with what’s here.

This isn’t about being flawless.
It’s about becoming skilful in how we meet what’s real.

And that’s something we can learn — especially when we’re not trying to do it alone.
We have a community (online and in-person) where we are doing this together.

Here’s what I’ve been noticing in people these last few months …
A sense of wide opening —
new ideas, new possibilities, new directions beginning to take shape
…and at the same time,
a deep tiredness from everything we’ve been holding and processing.
________________________________________

I feel this. I’m living through this too.
I know these times are requesting a lot of us.
Whether we are aware of it or not, we’re releasing a long collective dive into darkness as we remember the light.
It’s part of why I’ve shaped my work the way I have.

What I’ve come to trust is this:
We don’t find our way again by pushing harder.
We find it by reconnecting —
to our bodies
to each other
to the wider intelligence of the natural world

Together in Nature has grown from that understanding.
A space where learning doesn’t just happen through ideas —
but through being, sensing, relating, and experiencing.

🌿 On May 15–16, we’re gathering in Aberdeenshire for a 2-day immersion.
A small group.
A relational space.
Time outdoors, in practice, in conversation, in quiet moments too.

There are just 2 places left now.
The group that’s forming feels almost complete but I feel another couple of people hovering in the field.
If you’re feeling
both the stretch into something new
and the need to be held and resourced within it
It might be you and you are very welcome.

Or reach out if you want to connect first.

This is part of something ongoing.
A community, a pathway, a way of being.
This next step takes place Friday 15 & Saturday 16th May.

Want a FREE Trial of FREEDOM

. . . As We Enter the Eleventh Spectral Moon: Liberation - try a one-day free trail of our 13 Moon Membership.

We’ve entered the Eleventh Moon of the 13 Moon cycle — a phase of release, emotional clearing, and inner reorganisation.

This is where the cycle loosens what has completed its role, not as loss, but as part of a deeper creative intelligence.

In a world focused on constant productivity, this stage can feel counterintuitive. But in natural time, release is what creates space for the next coherent unfolding of life.

The question of this Moon is:
What is ready to be released?

If you’re feeling drawn to explore this deeper rhythm of life — and to reconnect with time as something living rather than linear — you’re invited into our 13 Moon Membership.

✨ 24-hour free access available
✨ then a SUPER GENEROUS £130/year ongoing access

A space to explore somatic alignment with natural cycles, embodied awareness, and a more sovereign relationship with time itself.
