🍦🚗 A Sweet Start to the Week at Grove! 🚗🍦

Our first outing of the week was a brilliant one! Brian, Bob and Harry headed out for a wee trip to McDonald’s to enjoy a well‑deserved ice cream treat — the perfect way to brighten the day 💛✨

A special moment from the outing… Brian took his first ever selfie! Safe to say he absolutely nailed it, and the smiles say it all 📸

And as you can see from the group photo, we might have exhausted our driver Michael with all the yapping, laughter and fun along the way — but that’s what makes these outings so memorable! 🚐

🛍️🚐 Ladies’ Shopping Trip to Tesco! 🚐🛍️

Our ladies enjoyed a fantastic day out on the mini‑van, making the very most of their shopping trip to Tesco! There were plenty of smiles, lots of browsing and even more lovely new outfits chosen — all ready to be shown off in the garden when the fine weather arrives 💛🌸

After all that retail therapy, a well‑earned fly cup was definitely needed — the perfect way to round off the afternoon ☕

And as for the laughs… let’s just say Michael, our maintenance colleague, was less than impressed when our activities co‑ordinator made him smell every single candle in Tesco! The ladies thought it was hilarious, and the photos say it all.

Edna absolutely loves spending time completing her word searches — it’s one of her favourite ways to relax and stay busy 💛✨

Our activities co‑ordinator spotted this massive ultimate book of word searches and knew straight away that Edna would be over the moon with it. And she was! With so many puzzles to enjoy, it will definitely keep her happily occupied for quite some time 🥰🖊️

It’s lovely to see how much joy these simple, meaningful activities bring to our residents here at Grove Care Home.

As you can see, Betty was absolutely in her element, sitting with three generations of her family around her. Moments like these mean so much and bring such joy to the home.

🚶‍♀️🌿 A Lovely Day for a Walk at The Grove! 🌿🚶‍♂️

Today we headed out for some fresh air and gentle exercise with our residents — and what a lovely outing it was 💛✨
Arlene, Eric and Bob enjoyed a peaceful stroll by the river, taking in the scenery and sharing stories along the way.

We also popped into the local baker for a wee fly cup and a fancy piece, which went down a treat ☕🍰
Simple moments like these bring so much joy, connection and conversation.

What does it actually mean to be a nurse?

Not the job description.
Not the uniform.
Not the “no two days are the same” line.

The real answer.

For International Nurses Day 2026, we sat down with nurses from across Meallmore and asked them a few simple questions about what nursing means to them.

Their answers said everything.

It’s compassion when someone needs reassurance.
It’s clinical skill when decisions matter.
It’s patience on the difficult days.
It’s leadership when a team needs guidance.
It’s knowing someone’s routine, their family, their worries, their sense of humour.

In care homes, nurses do so much more than deliver care.

They build trust.
They support families.
They lead teams.
They protect dignity.
They help make our homes feel like home.

So today, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible nurses across Meallmore who bring their knowledge, kindness and calm presence into our homes every single day.

A fitting tribute to an amazing profession - and to the people who show what nursing really means. 💙

There were plenty of laughs in the lounge today as Brian enjoyed a brilliant game of Jenga with our activities co‑ordinator — steady hands and big smiles all round! 🧱

Meanwhile, Simba was feeling creative and decided to build his very own Castle Fraser using the bricks, with a little help from our residents 🏰🐾
A lovely mix of imagination, teamwork and fun.

Our lovely new resident Joan has been enjoying our peaceful walks around the river in Kemnay — a favourite spot that holds so many special memories for her. As we strolled, Joan reminisced about her children playing in the river when they were young, and how she and her husband used to go fishing there together 🎣💬💕

🌿🌞 Getting the Garden Summer‑Ready at Grove! 🌞🌿

It was all hands on deck in the garden as Brian, Eric and Rena spent the morning sprucing things up for the summer 💛🌼
From tidying to planning and adding those little touches that make the space feel extra welcoming, they did a fantastic job.

We also had a lovely surprise when Brian’s wife popped in to say hello, bringing even more smiles to the afternoon 💐

A big thank you to everyone for helping keep our outdoor spaces looking beautiful — we can’t wait to enjoy many sunny days out there together 🌞🌿💛
