Meet Sally
Sally has been with us since the start of 2022 and originally joined to help in the office. Shortly after starting at Sunflower, Sally started to do some care visits of her own and has never looked back!
'I was inspired to go into the care sector by my daughter who has worked within this field for many years. I love my job, especially working at Sunflower Homecare. I enjoy making a difference in people's lives, helping them, making their lives easier and keeping them independent for as long as they are able .
At Sunflower we 'are family', all our carers believe in the same ethos. We care, because we can, where we are needed and to the best of our abilities .'

Meet Janette
Janette has been with since the start of 2021 and continues to be a valued member of the Sunflower family. Janette has shared why she wanted to go into the care sector.
'Back in 2008 I worked as a pharmacy dispenser and this particular day the pharmacist asked me to deliver medication for an elderly gentleman that was needed ASAP, I knocked on the door and he let me in, he was very grateful.
We sat and chatted and he told me about his time in the navy. He said he has carers that comes twice a day to help him as he can't manage on his own.
As I was driving back to work I thought to myself I want to be a carer, i want to make a difference to people's lives, five months later I was a carer and I wouldn't want to do anything else!
I enjoy working for Sunflower because I feel part of a team, I have lovely clients and I always feel appreciated.
Rhiannon is always supportive and understanding, it's so lovely being part of the Sunflower family.'

Meet Shaneen
Shaneen has been with us since almost the beginning of Sunflower Homecare and started in the Summer of 2020.
'What inspired me to be a carer was seeing what great help they can be, growing up with my grandmother and father both needing care. The small things that a carer does can make a massive difference.
I enjoy working for Sunflower as I feel we focus on person centered care, and this is very important to me.'

Sunflower Homecare was created by Rhiannon Richards and Toni Watson. They both started their careers as carers and, together, bring over 30 years’ combined experience in the industry to the team. Both have each achieved two ‘Good’ CQC inspections in their recent Registered Manager posts. Toni is also qualified to deliver training in the sector.
Rhiannon Richards – Managing Director
'Our aim at Sunflower Homecare is simple; to bring a little bit of sunshine into people’s lives. We wanted to create a service that marries together all the good bits we have both learnt over the years and, most importantly, we wanted it to be friendly and personable. ‘Sunflower Homecare’ is named after my late Great, Nana Glad’s favourite flower. My Nana Glad needed some support in the later years of her life, but unfortunately resisted it, as she was a very independent lady.
We want to change the way people feel about receiving care and support. Each time we begin to support a new client we treat them like we would expect our own loved ones to be treated - with respect and compassion, promoting their independence always.'
Toni Watson – Head of Care
'Whether the care and support delivered is at home, or in the local community, we ensure all our clients feel safe and in good hands. We achieve this in many ways; a values-based recruitment process to confirm the suitability for the role; an extensive programme to ensure potential team members have the values, skills and knowledge that are needed, while ensuring they’re aware of their responsibilities; and also through regular one to ones with staff, to ensure they feel supported.
As Rhiannon said, we want to change the way people think about receiving care. We also want to change people’s perception of carers and encourage them to see that it is a career, not just a job. Having worked as carers ourselves, we understand the importance of making sure employees, as well as clients, feel valued. Having an open door policy and praising our Carers’ when they go above and beyond plays a key part in our Sunflower family journey.'
