MEDALS GOING HOME 💪
This is my first one for a little while so please share it ♥️

This WW1 pair were awarded to 233685 CPL. C.W. SAGGERS. R.A.

Charles William Saggers was born on September 19th 1886 in Tottenham, Middlesex. His father, John, was 30 and his mother, Mary, was 27. John was a dairyman and on the 1891 census I can find the family living at 1 Oak cottages and by 1901 they had moved to Elizabeth Place, Clyde Road.

Charles married Elizabeth Rolfe on January 2nd 1908 in West Ham, Essex. They had two children during their marriage, Charles John Leslie Saggers and Alice Florence Marion Saggers.

In 1911 we can find him married, working as a foreman milkman, and living at 9 Conway Road, Harringay.

Charles served during WW1 as a corporal with the Royal Field Artillery but died on November 2nd 1918 at Mile End Military Hospital at the age of 32. He is remembered at the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium in Newham.his address at the time was 44 Rectory Road, Manor Park, East Ham.

His medals are now back with his great grandson Martyn 🏅🥈🏠

Do you think they knew people would find this funny over 100 years later? 🤣

We are over halfway through the year and my fundraiser is still live on GoFundMe. Thanks to all those that help support Medals Going Home! I've been working on some really cool stuff but you'll have to wait until closer to Remembrance Day to see it 😉

Should I up my fundraising target? Still got 6 months to go!

Have any of you seen this?

I've been whizzing through the episodes today. They are a bit naughty in places but just finished episode 4.

That was a tough watch.

Dorrigo the main character is shipped off to war where, as a prisoner, he and the other POWs witness and share a horrific event that will haunt them forever. Unspeakable atrocities.

It makes me wonder whether my great grandad experienced or witnessed the same whilst he was a prisoner building the death railway in Thailand until he succumbed to chloera.

I'll pop a link to the series trailer in the comments .

It looks like there are interesting people in this photo album!Do you recognise any of them?
