Why carbohydrates are non-negotiable for women:

🥚Hormonal Health: They support your thyroid and stress response. Restricting them spikes cortisol - the last thing we want during cycles or perimenopause

🧠 Brain & Mood: Your brain runs on glucose. Low-carb often means brain fog, low mood, and poor sleep, especially in the week before your period when serotonin is already lower

💪 Muscle & Recovery: You can’t protect or build muscle without fuel. Carbohydrates provide the energy to train well and the recovery needed to get stronger. They also help your body use protein more effectively for repair

Sunday evenings don’t have to feel like a countdown to chaos.

I know for many, this is the point in the week where everything starts to feel a bit loud 🔊- not because Monday is 😧 , but because nothing feels anchored yet.

The most effective way to calm that feeling isn’t motivation.
It’s structure and support.

When life gets busy, health is often the first thing to slide - not because we don’t care, but because it isn’t protected.

A simple reset that actually helps:

✅ Prepare once: Kit ready, session chosen, decision made

✅ Block the time: Treat movement like an appointment, not a “maybe”

✅ Add accountability: Change is far more likely when you’re supported, not relying on willpower

FireTiger Fitness didn’t come from a text book. It was developed through lived experience of myself and those around me and refined through evidence.

Sport has always been my life. I trained hard, I worked hard academically. I represented GBR, and I did exactly what I was told. I wanted to be the best.

But the system I was in wasn’t built for a female body. From nutrition and training to recovery, injuries, and “pushing through the pain” because I didn’t know any better - and neither did the people training me - my body suffered.

Result - long term injuries, overtraining and total burnout.

Later, as a coach and a Head of Girls Sport (as well as the years in between) I saw history repeating itself. I saw brilliant girls and adult women being held back by the same culture, often being blocked from using the very knowledge that would help them thrive.

I realised, even with good intentions, the fitness, sport and nutrition industry was failing us.

So I decided to stop trying to change it and forged a better system instead. One where everyone can achieve. 🔥🐯

I spent years quietly doing the research, gaining extra qualifications, and building my own bank of female-specific knowledge while working in the background. I wanted to create a space where:

✅ Evidence replaces all of the BS that is out there ESPECIALLY “diet culture” trends

✅ Hormonal health is understood, not ignored

✅ Cardiovascular Health is prioritised as our “internal engine,” especially as our bodies change with age

✅ Neurodivergent needs are met, not masked

✅ Strength is built sustainably, for life

Not really 😂…

I hear this so often, and I want to put your mind at ease: Building “bodybuilder” muscle is actually incredibly difficult.

To get that “bulky” look, you would need a very specific, high-volume training regime, a massive calorie surplus, and years of dedicated focus. It simply does not happen by accident! While we are at it, our female hormones make it even more difficult!

An experience to remember. At 7am on Sunday we completed a 5km “ruck” around, up, around some more, down and through Stadium - finishing next to the pitch! It was a beautiful morning and such a great start to the day.

The fight to stop myself running on to the pitch and through the sprinklers at the end though was real…. 🤣

Everyone wore a weighted backpack or vest and we carried a 20kg plate between us. As someone who hasn’t rucked before, it showed me how fun walking with weight can be. So thank you to and for taking us out! As well as .official for organising it. I should also thank the whole rucking team for coping with my leadership energy at that time in the morning 😄😅! It was a pleasure walking with and chatting to everyone in that group.

So. I’d like to do some more Rucks! Anyone fancy joining me for some FTF rucking in Suffolk? 😃 - I’m counting on some of you raising your hands!
