Our next outdoor first aid course is live!

This course is ideal for anyone involved in outdoor activities, from instructors and leaders to enthusiastic adventurers. You’ll come away with the confidence and skills to deal with emergencies in remote environments.

Multi-Casualty Training Scenario at Poundfield Precast

We had a brilliant day last Friday running a realistic multi-casualty first aid training scenario for the team at Poundfield Precast, based around a simulated gas bottle explosion.

It was fantastic to see every group fully engaged – responding to a high-stress incident with embedded shrapnel injuries, serious burns, and multiple casualties. A huge shout-out to the two amazing actors from the Casualties Union, who brought the scene to life with incredibly realistic injuries.

Even better, this training was part of a full-day Health & Safety Pit Stop, showing that Poundfield truly values their people. Taking a full day out of production to focus on safety speaks volumes.

And let’s not forget – they even laid on a cracking lunch for everyone too!

Can you use an AED on someone who is pregnant?

We were asked this great question on a recent Gain First Aid Training course — and the answer is yes!

According to the Resuscitation Council UK, it is completely appropriate to use an AED on a pregnant person if they go into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, cardiac arrest is rare in pregnancy, but if it does happen, early defibrillation can save lives.

The procedure is the same as for any other adult, but make sure to place the pads so they avoid the enlarged breasts.

Remember — acting quickly makes all the difference.

The end of a fantastic two day outdoor first aid course.

We believe it’s vital to be hands on with practical first aid skills. Especially wound packing with some (fake) blood coming out of a wound.

Queech woods was a fantastic location for this training. It also meant we could enjoy some tea boiled on a fire. Our young scout leader candidate was straight onto getting the fire sorted and kettle boiling.

We didn’t leave people cooking too long in the shelters and blizzard blankets either!!

We even popped to manor farm cafe for coffee and cake!!

Last week we were at The New Wolsey Theatre for a First Aid at Work course.

We were on the stage for the last day and the "patients" were superb actors (well, of course they were).

On-site training is a great option for many of our clients. It also helps us to tailor the training to the types of incidents the learners will (or have) come across.

Do you need some on-site training? Get in touch.

David is currently delivering a First Aid at Work course at a clients location. Not a bad little set up.

Do you know where in Ipswich he is?

More importantly do you know where your nearest AED is? The QR code on the screen will take you to www.defibfinder.uk which will show your nearest AED that has been registered on “the circuit”.

Want some on-site training? Get in touch and we can come to you!
