Thank you to our head Housekeeper for being the main organiser of our Christmas fair and thank you to the willows team for all your hard work and effort put into making this a fabulous day for our residents. Also a massive thank you to everyone that came to celebrate our Christmas fair with our wonderful residents. It's was a very successful day with plenty of smiles. We had santa in his grotto with his elf. Winter wonderland with stalls, raffles. Hot chocolates , buffet and a disco with bubbles followed by Jake to finish off the party. We have raised £166 in total which has gone into our Sparkle fund for our residents. Here are a few photos of today.

Sohal Healthcare is a family-owned group of care homes established for over 20 years. We provide support to older people including those with the onset of acute dementia. By joining us you will become one of the ‘family’.

· Salary: £11.44 per hour, weekends £11.44per hour

· Part time and full-time vacancies available

· Shift Pattern Days 7am-7pm or Half Shifts 7am-1pm or 1pm-7pm

· Shift Pattern Nights 7pm-7am

· Monday - Sunday. (You must be able to work alternate weekends)

About the role:

Supporting people with personal care such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing and assisting with meals. Completing current and appropriate documentation which includes daily record keeping, charts and care plans.

What we are looking for from you:

Experience in a care environment either in a care home, as a home care worker or caring for a loved one would be ideal, however if you have a caring and kind approach and the desire to work in elderly care – we would love to hear from you.

About the role:

The role will include ordering and administering medication, liaising regularly with visiting professionals, medical services, and service user’s families. Completing current and appropriate documentation which includes daily record keeping, charts and care plans.

What we are looking for from you:

Experience as a Care Assistant is essential for this role. Experience as a Senior Care Assistant is preferred, but not essential as full training for the role will be given. The successful applicant will have an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) and will be willing to work towards achieving their Level 3 award.

Job description
To provide a high quality catering service for the Care Home residents and manage all activities in relation to the service, including food preparation, planning, ordering and food delivery to Service Users.

To provide balanced and nutritious menus, which cater for the Service Users’ needs and preferences, taking into account ethnic and religious convictions.

Duties & Responsibilities

1) To prepare meals daily providing a balanced diet for the residents

2) To control stock rotation and order items of food provisions when required

3) To take daily temperatures of fridge and freezers

4) To keep fridges tidy and be aware of best before dates on food packages

5) Maintain a hygienic kitchen and ensure compliance with food hygiene practices

6) To produce freshly baked cakes daily for teas

7) To offer a choice of main meal each day

8) To prepare a selection of desserts daily

9) To provide special diets/foods for certain medical conditions/allergies (i.e diabetes)

10) To record menus daily in book for all inspectors

11) To make visitors welcome, give the refreshments and any assistance they require

12) To observe the homes health and safety policy and general policies at all times

13) To understand and respect residents’ privacy, dignity and confidentially

14) Take part in meetings and attend the required training sessions

15) To understand the importance of good communications, observation and good team work

16) To carry out such other duties as reasonably directed.

17) To cover the required holiday cover

Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of the issues involved in catering for older people, special dietary needs etc
Quality approach to food services delivery
A good understanding of different cultural and ethnic traditions with regard to catering
An interest in nutrition for older people with a range of conditions including dementia
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
Self-starter with the ability to make decisive decisions
Ability to inspire and develop people to reach personal and operational objectives
Keen to learn and improve own performance
Committed to communicate with residents to understand their needs
Has a ‘can-do’ attitude to work

Enjoys working effectively as part of a team
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £14.00 per hour

We are looking for an additional member of staff to join us as an Activities coordinator in the home.
It will be a full time position of 40 hours per week or 2 part timers and the rate of pay is £12.55per hour and to include every other weekend, start finish times can be discussed at the interview.
Skills you will need :
Someone who has Flexibility, patience, caring attitude and a real 'people person'
A self-starter, who can generate ideas and enthusiasm
A good level of written and spoken English, plus IT skills
someone who can offer stimulating activities to help residents enjoy everyday in their home.

✨️ Sparkle event ✨️ 2 of our residents (ITFC supporters) got the chance to go to ipswich town football stadium for a stadium tour which included the changing rooms and dug outs. They thoroughly enjoyed this and even got a souvenir to bring back with them. 😁
