Could you spare a few hours a week from this September?

Why not join our lovely friendly team as a volunteer and help support our Visually Impaired Arts Programme which provides specialist support to enable people living with sight loss in Suffolk to engage with arts and culture.

Programme activities include drama, music, crafts and heritage, most of which take place in or nearby.

The programme includes one-off workshops and our weekly drama group, High Spirits: https://coherearts.org/home/high-spirits/

You don’t need to have any arts expertise, but an appreciation would be helpful. Our volunteers provide practical support enabling our workshops, rehearsals and visits to run smoothly and safely.

You will need:
- To be friendly, unflappable and flexible
- To attend our free training and induction
- To hold, or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate (we can sort this for you)
- To have a sense of humour
- To like dogs

If you are interested please email us: coherearts@gmail.com

As well as windows of Ed we are very happy to be hosting one of the leverets for the 2025 We love the colourful ‘Sunny Tail’ painted by children and young people supported by CF Education. They were asked to create their own artwork, based on sunny days, bright colours and bold shapes. It certainly brightens our days and all the patients who get to enjoy it too! Thank you and

If you want advice on sunglasses or photochromic lenses (which are on special offer until the end of June!) just pop into the practice and speak to our dispensing opticians.

I wear glasses all the time: what are my options for sunglasses?

You have a number of choices. Sunglasses can be made to your normal optical prescription. You can choose the colour and depth of tint: most people opt for brown or grey but a whole range of colours are available. Some frames suit clip on sunglasses. You might also opt for photochromic lenses that darken in sunshine. Ask your optician for advice on which option will suit you best.

Although increasing numbers of children are short-sighted, many parents are apparently not taking them for regular eye-tests and prioritising visits to the dentist over the optician. A survey by Mumsnet found that 1 in 10 parents saw no reason to take their children to the optometrist, despite the fact it is free for under 16’s in the UK, and that half the population is expected to be myopic by 2050! This Easter book your child an eyetest if they haven’t been checked in the last 2 years 🤓. https://www.mumsnet.com/news/optical-profession-urges-greater-awareness
