Happy Earth Day! 🌏

This year marks the 56th anniversary of Earth Day with the theme Our Power, Our Planet - a reminder that real change starts with us, even if it is through small actions.

Looking for simple ways to make a difference?

• Support environmental campaigns by signing a petition.
• Avoid fast fashion - choose second hand and shop locally instead.
• Plant a pollinator garden - top pollinator plants include lavender, milkweed and catmint.
• Try eating plant based food to reduce environmental impact.
• Attend an earth day event and make a difference in your community. You can find events near you here: https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2026/ .
• Go plastic free for a day (or longer if you can!)

Every action counts - together, we can protect our planet. 💚

What’s one small change you will be making?

Happy World Health Day!

This year’s theme is ‘Together for health. Stand with science’.

Science is at the heart of healthier lives. Without it, tackling challenges like cancer, infections, and diseases wouldn’t be possible.

These are just a few examples of how science has transformed healthcare:

- Penicillin and antibiotics to treat infections
- Vaccines to prevent infections and disease
- Medical imaging to assess conditions in the body

Understanding these challenges through science helps to shape the way we prevent, diagnose, and treat illness every day.

What scientific breakthrough has helped you and your health?

Dementia can affect memory, communication, and everyday thinking, which is why the way we communicate with someone living with dementia is so important. A thoughtful approach can help reduce confusion and build trust.

Here are some more supportive ways to communicate with someone living with dementia:

• Be patient and remain calm
• Give them some time to respond
• Encourage them to join in on conversations to boost confidence
• Avoid speaking in patronising tones when having conversations
• Acknowledge what they say – even if they don’t give you the answer you are looking for, this can reassure them
• Pat or hold their hand when speaking to them to reassure them

At Prestige Nursing & Care, we understand the challenges of dementia. That’s why we provide compassionate, tailored dementia care in the comfort of home, so your loved one can continue to enjoy familiar surroundings, routines and relationships.
