This month’s Treatment Table top tip coincides beautifully with national bubble bath day.

Epsom Salt Baths

When Epsom salt is dissolved in water, it releases magnesium and sulfate ions.
Adding 1-2 cups of these fragrance-free crystals to your bath turns it into a mini health spa treatment (for an extra bit of luxury add a few drops of your favourite essential oil too). An Epsom Salt bath is said to:
· Promote sleep
· Reduce stress
· Sooth skin
· Calm tension headaches and migraines
· Accelerate recovery from illness and exercise
· Reduce muscle and joint soreness

January is National Dog walk month. Dogs and humans need access to the outdoors not just for a little bit of exercise, but for their overall mental and physical health and wellness.
For humans, the benefits of walking in nature include, reducing stress and anxiety, improving cardiovascular health, boosting the immune system, enhancing creativity and focus, and improving overall well-being.
For our dogs, the daily dog walk helps maintain physical fitness and musco skeletal health, provides mental stimulation leading to more balanced mental health, allows social opportunities if this is something your dog enjoys, provides opportunity to engage in genetic traits (E.G. chasing, sniffing, digging, swimming, tunnelling), and develops a bond between dog and owner.
Going for a walk with your dog will positively impact the health of you and your dog!

Are you getting enough sleep?
· 60% of UK adults report sleeping 6 hours or less each night
· One in three people in the UK struggle with insomnia symptoms each week.
· 40% of individuals aged 18-24 say they struggle to fall asleep quickly.
· 36% of adults in the UK struggle to fall asleep at least once a week.
· 58% of the UK population are getting less than the recommended 7+ hours of sleep per night, increasing the risk of health issues.

Why is this important?
· Sleep is crucial for overall health and well-being. It impacts various aspects of health, including:
· Brain Function: Sleep is essential for cognitive processes and memory consolidation.
· Emotional Well-being: Good sleep quality is linked to better emotional health and resilience.
· Physical Health: Insufficient sleep can lead to health issues such as high blood pressure, obesity, and increased risk of chronic diseases.
· Circadian Rhythms: Maintaining a regular sleep schedule supports bodily functions and reduces health risks associated with disrupted sleep patterns.
· Mental Health: There is a bidirectional relationship between sleep and mental health, where poor sleep can exacerbate mental health issues and vice versa.

We can help
Bowen Therapy can significantly aid in improving sleep quality by promoting relaxation and reducing stress. This technique involves gentle, hands-on movements that stimulate the body's natural healing processes, helping to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is often activated during sleep disturbances.

Happy New Year!!!
Drop me a comment about your 2026 plans!!

Happy New Year to all my customers and followers, January has the ability to bring forth an excitement and positive vibe. For some, the new year brings closure to what’s gone before, for others it’s a time of goal setting, resolutions, excitement and hope for the year ahead.

I sit firmly in the goal setting group, some of these goals will be achieved, others will be shelved or binned as the year progresses.

Either way you can be sure to find me welcoming you on to my treatment table throughout 2026 for all your Bowen Technique and Scar Therapy needs.

Tell me about something you’re looking forward to this year in the comments

This is your reminder that recovery ebbs and flows, you won’t feel better every day, perfect days are scarce. Recovery from illness, injury, surgery, trauma, addiction, and other difficulties is rarely linear and will take time.

It’s a conversation I have with at least one patient a week when frustration takes over and it feels like things aren’t moving quick enough.

Today, if you’re recovering, be kind to yourself, your body is working at the pace it is capable of in this moment to ensure the best end result possible!

A relaxed dog is a happy dog!!

Dogs can need up to 17 hours sleep a day to function properly. Similar to humans, lack of quality rest and sleep can affect their behaviour, stress levels and ability to work. Owners of dogs that are offered canine bowen technique often report increased hours of deep relaxation and rest following a session.

A little reminder of what scar therapy can help with:
Stimulating changes in scars both on and under the skin surface.
Promote functional and cosmetic improvements to scars.
Reduce symptoms such as pain, tightness, sensitivity and numbness.
Resolve referred pain and imbalance away from the scar.
Support emotional wellbeing and relationship around the scar.

Bowen Technique: The how and why it works!

The ripple effect: like gently disturbing water, when a Bowen move is made changes occur not only at the site of the move but also in the surrounding tissues. Whilst the surface appears to return to its original state, the water will have moved and changed to best fit around the disturbance site. During the breaks during a Bowen session your body changes in a similar way.

Light touch: This is non threatening to the body and allows the nervous system to relax into treatment rather than anticipate more pain.

Precision: Using precise points sends information to the brain about the functionality of that area.

Breaks: Give the body time to adapt to the information the brain receives, and make changes appropriate for your body.

Bowen Technique for Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder involves stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint. Signs and symptoms typically begin slowly, then get worse. Over time, symptoms get better, usually within 1 to 3 years.

Bowen Technique can support your recovery, and has been shown to improve symptoms associated with the condition, especially when used alongside physio exercises.
