💚 Small choices can make a big difference to your health 💚

Preventable health conditions are placing pressure on the NHS and widening health inequalities. Over a quarter of people now live with a long-term condition, with those in more deprived areas living shorter lives and spending fewer years in good health.

Not sure where to start? The NHS Healthy Choices Quiz is a quick and easy first step.

📝 It takes just a few minutes and looks at: Movement, Eating, Alcohol, Smoking & Va**ng, Mental health, Sleep

You’ll receive a score out of 10 and be signposted to trusted NHS advice and free digital support tools.

🚨Flu-jab SOS: Don’t wait – get protected now!🚨
The NHS has issued a warning that we’re only weeks away from the worst of the winter flu season — and cases are already rising fast.

Flu cases are already three times higher than this time last year.
Over 2.4 million vaccination slots are available to help manage the early surge.
You’re eligible for a free flu vaccine if you are aged 65+, under 65 with certain health conditions, pregnant, a carer, a care home resident, a health/social care worker, or a close contact of someone immunosuppressed.

What you can do:
If you’re eligible, book your flu jab NOW!
Encourage friends and family who may be eligible to get vaccinated.
Keep up good winter habits: hand hygiene, staying warm, resting, and eating well.

Why it matters:
Getting vaccinated protects you from serious illness and helps reduce pressure on NHS services during the busy winter period.

👉 Please share to help keep our community safe and well this winter!

It’s National Self-Care Week!
This week is a reminder that taking care of ourselves is not a luxury, it’s essential. Especially as the colder months set in, it’s important to look after our health & well-being.

We’re sharing a helpful fact sheet on winter illnesses (coughs, colds, flu, norovirus) by The Self Care Forum:https://www.selfcareforum.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/26-Winter-Illness.pdf

Self-care tip list for the week:
Stay warm & cosy: check heating, have layers, warm drinks.
Make time to rest and recharge, your body may need more rest when it’s colder.
Stay nourished & hydrated, fluids + balanced meals help your immune system.
Keep good hygiene, washing hands regularly, covering your mouth when coughing/sneezing.
Know when to ask for advice, pharmacy or your GP are there if you feel more unwell than usual.
Be kind to your mental health too, self-care isn’t just physical. A short walk, a warm bath, a good book: these count.

Let’s make this week about YOU 🧡. Share with friends/family who might need the reminder, and let’s support each other to stay well this winter.
