Wendy James Hypnotherapy 'If you can change your mind, you can change your life'.. Start now by calling for a free, no obligation chat to find out more

Having had personal experience of chronic anxiety in my younger years, I can understand and identify with the debilitating effect it can have on everyday life. My first experience of hypnotherapy was at a particularly difficult time in my life. A friend recommended that I consider having hypnotherapy given the success that they had found from this approach. It was after my own success from hypnoth

erapy that I decided to explore the possibility of training as a hypnotherapist. I am really pleased that I did as it has not only been life changing for me but for many of my clients that have benefitted from accessing hypnotherapy. It's so rewarding to see people change their lives for the better. I am a natural communicator, my passion is people. I follow the values and principles of my peers and that is to teach people about their own ability to change, to move towards their goals and desires and to live the life they prefer. I am very pleased to return to working face to face with my clients and continue to work very successfully on line via Zoom, which means that there are no geographical limitations. Call me for a free, no obligation chat to find out how I can help.

Do you take a walk in nature in your spare time? Is it something you'd like to do but 'haven't got the time'?

I'm a big fan of walking in among the trees and, apart from enjoying precious time away from the rush of life, here's just a few proven reasons why I'm recommending it to you:

A proven reduction in stress and anxiety
releases endorphins and serotonin, both boosting mood
supports your cardiovascular health,
strengthens your immune system
reduces stress, frustration, irritability
offers space and invites peace in to your day
walking with family, friends strengthens social connection
being exposed to natural light regulates your circadian rhythm (sleep/wake cycle) so improves sleep

For a bit of fun, I've hidden four accompaniments to walking in among the trees, see if you can find them. I hope it tempts you to get your boots on and get walking!

Best wishes for a relaxing weekend, Wendy

We all need support sometimes and expressing your feelings IS NOT a sign of weakness, it’s a strength that we all possess and one that has countless benefits to our mental health and wellbeing.

Many of us find it so difficult to talk about our mental health for various reasons but not wanting to be a burden or to appear ‘weak’ or ‘vulnerable’ are common causes.

Some of us might now know that bottling up our emotions can lead to anxiety, stress and/or depression.

I often use the metaphor of holding on to anxieties, worries and stress is like lugging around an invisible backpack that weighs heavy on our shoulders. We can’t see it, but we can feel the weight of the unspoken words, thoughts, feelings, fears and worries so talking about our feelings really can lighten our load!

Procrastination, self criticism, guilt, anger, anxiety, low mood are all side effects of unresolved ‘issues’ that contribute to the emotional weight we lug around.

If were not sharing it we’re storing it and that stuff can get heavy; causing many of us to
find resolve or comfort in food, sweet treats, alcohol, ci******es or escaping in to binge watching on Netflix.

Sometimes, a fresh perspective can help us see things in a new light and offer solutions we may not have considered. Embracing vulnerability can also lead to personal growth and resilience.

Opening up isn’t a sign of weakness, in fact it’s a strength and a failsafe way of offloading the contents of the ‘backpack. By talking about how we feel we will likely find that our family or friends will be able to relate to how we’re feeling too.

Let’s break the stigma around mental health and remember that our feelings matter so reach out, talk to someone and let them in. No one should go through struggles with mental health alone.

If you know of a friend, relative or colleague that doesn’t seem themselves, offer a supportive word or a kind hand, you never know how much those small gestures could change someone’s day for the better.

If you’ve found this post helpful, share it to your page as you never know who might need to hear this today.

We all experience stress and anxiety at some point in our lives and, over the past decade there’s been a significant increase in poor mental health due to external pressures and demands that trigger emotional/physical stress.

Many times, acute stress and anxiety can be remedied by addressing the situation that’s causing it but if there’s no resolution to be found e.g., social and economic issues such as loneliness or financial hardship can exacerbate our emotional and physical health and, if not addressed or resolved, can spill out into everyday life and potentially impact our physical and emotional wellbeing and, in some cases, those around us.

After a long day at work or a stressful day, it’s easy to find comfort in a few pints of beer, a bottle of wine, ci******es or ‘recreational drugs’ to relax, lift the mood or provide a sense of relief and comfort but with regular or overuse can cause significant long term health issues and exacerbate physical and mental health.

Stress and anxiety is a response to external pressures or demands that can be either short or long term, both triggering mental health conditions such as worry, fear, anger, procrastination, poor decision making and social withdrawal. These are all common features of unresolved stress and can affect any age group from young children to the elderly.

School, college, work and home environments can trigger the stress response as can financial constraints, interpersonal relationships and a poor support network in many different situations and environments.

Prolonged anxiety and stress can be draining and can lead to depression, panic disorders and many other mental health conditions.

In the current climate, finding support can mean joining a long waiting list, asking Dr Google for support or you can download my free eBook “How To Relieve Anxiety During Stressful Times” that provides information, advice and many helpful tips to reduce stress and anxiety.

Does anxiety regularly dominate your life? If so, read on⤵️

Anxiety and fear have a way of amplifying the noise in our head, making even the smallest worries feel overwhelming. It’s as if the volume’s been turned all the way up and no matter how hard we try to quiet the noise, it continues to roll out the worries, fears
And ‘what if’s’ that drive out logic and reason, leaving us feeling restless, exhausted and desperate for relief.

Finding ways to manage the internal chatter by reducing the volume can be a game changer, by replacing the chaos with calm.

If this post resonates with you or you know someone who would benefit from some free guidance and support, look out for my next post on here where I’ll be adding the link to download my ebook,‘The Road Map out of Anxiety’ or you can follow the link to my website below for access to the eBook.

How Neuroplasticity works as an empowering tool for personal transformation 🙂

Our brain is adaptable like plastic. Every time we think a certain way, follow an instruction practice a new task, we strengthen the neural pathway involved and, with repetition, a new habit is established .

If we decide that we want to think or act in a new, more positive way we start to carve out a new pathway. The more we repeat the new behaviour or thought, the pathway strengthens and embeds itself as a healthy habit while the lack of activity ref the old habit/pathway weakens.

In my hypnotherapy sessions, during hypnosis, I use a unique and effective approach that 'rewires' the brain's plasticity to reprogramme old patterns, beliefs and emotions and replace them with the clients desired outcome.

It's an interesting and informative watch so take a look..

Understanding the Challenges of Mental
Health

▶️Making improvements to your mental health can feel really challenging at times so, having a better understanding of the role emotional health plays in these setbacks can be helpful when looking to improve your mental health and wellbeing for the long term.

▶️We live in a digital world where cognitive overload can make it feel impossible to prioritise our mental health, especially when demands on our time are so high.

▶️Our brains are wired to respond to deep rooted habitual patterns that have become established over many years as a result of learnt behaviour from our formative years, e.g., entrenched beliefs, e.g., not feeling good enough, repetitive negative thoughts, relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms e.g. smoking, alcohol, emotional eating, sugar laden foods etc.

▶️Emotional baggage can get heavy and the response to stress, anxiety, depression or trauma can trigger unpleasant feelings that can make it feel like a real slog when trying to stick to healthy changes.

▶️Unlike the improvements we see in our physical health after dieting or regular exercise we can’t as easily see improvements in our mental health, which makes it easier to throw the towel in before any benefits are observed.

▶️Stepping out of the comfort zone to make positive change can feel daunting which makes it easier to get stuck in an unhealthy pattern of behaviour regardless of how it impacts your physical and mental health.

▶️Acknowledging these challenges can be helpful if you really want to improve your mental health. Making positive changes is so much easier when there’s support around but not everyone has the benefit of a network of friends or family which can often make the path to improved mental health feel isolating.

▶️Reaching out for support and taking small, consistent steps to improve your mental and emotional wellbeing can, with a bit of time make a difference.

I hope that this explanation helps one or some of you know that struggles and difficult times are normal and mostly surmountable. I will be sharing tips and advice to help manage and improve your mental health and wellbeing.

I will also be returning to my FB Anxiety Support Group in the near future where you can access support for your emotional health and wellbeing so watch this space.

Get in touch via text, email or phone if you would like to find out more about the support I can offer.

Best wishes, Wendy

⭐️⭐️Monday Mindset Tips⭐️⭐️

Do you want to make positive changes in your life but feel stuck in a rut? The desire for change is there but the enthusiasm and staying power isn't. If this resonates with you, the following tips might inspire you ..

Identify the areas in your life that need to change or improve. Think about what benefits these changes or improvements will bring to your life. You might want to encourage positive relationships with family, partners, friends. It could be health related, e.g., diet, exercise, reducing/quitting ‘bad habits’ You might want to feel more motivated at home, at work or to make more time for family, friends and bring more fun and laughter, relaxation in to your life.

To sustain any change, you need to set realistic, achievable goals, starting with small action steps in your daily routine. Even with the best intentions, the ‘comfort zone’ can hold a lot of power!

The start of a new week is an optimal time to step up and step out on to the path of positive change so I’m sharing some good tips below to help encourage you on your way:

Always start with small actions to gain momentum, and be flexible in adjusting your plans and goals as you need to.

Regularly review and adjust your plans and goals to ensure continued engagement in maintaining focus.

Track your progress regularly, celebrate your achievements and stay in alignment with your goals to keep motivation levels up.

The start of a new week is a great motivator for making positive changes so give it go, what have you got to lose?

Best wishes, Wendy

Hello and Welcome 😊

I thought I’d introduce myself to those who are new to my page and to provide a reminder to my followers of my role as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Wellbeing Coach based in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

I discovered the transformative power of hypnotherapy after having sessions due to the ongoing struggles as a result of childhood trauma, symptoms of deep rooted, chronic anxiety and the impact it was having on my life so I’m fully aware of the profound effect unresolved emotions can have on our physical, emotional, mental health and wellbeing.

As a result of the success I achieved from accessing hypnotherapy I decided to train and qualify as a hypnotherapist which was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It’s given me the opportunity to help people live the life they desire and absolutely deserve.

I specialise in a variety of areas including stress and anxiety management, both of which play a significant role in the way we think, the way we feel and the way we behave in our daily lives, e.g., low mood, low self worth/self esteem, depression, procrastination, obsessive compulsive disorders, comfort eating, addictive behaviours, sleep disruption and much more.

In our sessions I provide a safe, supportive space to find out more about what you are looking to achieve from our sessions and to provide a comprehensive understanding of how hypnotherapy can help you achieve your goal(s). You will learn how your mind works and how we can work together to create positive and lasting change.

Whether you are struggling with stress, anxiety, trying to overcome past traumas or wanting to break free from unhealthy habits get in touch to find out how I can help.

By taking care of yourself you will be better equipped to make better choices and decisions that support a happier and healthier life. If you or someone you know would like to find out more about how I can help, get in touch by email or contact me to arrange a telephone call.

Remember, your journey to a happier and healthier life starts by taking the first step.

Here's to your best self 🙌

Online Hypnotherapy Feedback ~

"I was recommended to Wendy after being diagnosed with PTSD. At the time I didn't know where to turn. I immediately gained a rapport with Wendy and felt very comfortable, which was reassuring.

My sessions really helped and allowed me to gain clarity in making some important decisions in my life. I met with Wendy both in person and online via Zoom. Our online sessions allowed me to relax in the comfort of my home and meant that I could fit our sessions in around my working hours.
