Training and education programs are crucial in reducing accidents, focusing on preventing falls, proper handling of materials, and electrical safety. 📚

While safety measures and regulations have reduced the number of accidents in recent years, construction remains one of the most dangerous industries in the UK. Falls from height and moving objects remain the primary causes of fatal injuries, while slips, trips, and musculoskeletal injuries are the most common non-fatal issues.

Non-Fatal Accidents in Construction ⚠️

61,000 non-fatal injuries were reported in the UK construction sector in 2022/23.

Of these, approximately 24,000 injuries led to more than seven days of absence from work.

The injury rate in construction is around 2.6% of workers each year, meaning about 26 out of every 1,000 workers suffer a reportable injury.

The common types of non-fatal injuries include:
- Slips, trips, and falls
- Manual handling (lifting, carrying, or moving materials)
- Being struck by moving objects
- Injuries from falls from height
- Cuts, fractures, and bruises from machinery and tools
