This year has been a bit of a whirlwind. I genuinely cannot believe we are almost at the end of May already. WTAF!!
I’ve been busy settling into new roles, teaching, working with nutrition clients, building websites, writing, learning, and helping other people bring their ideas to life. Like most business owners, I’ve spent so much time with my head down working that I haven’t always stopped to think about where I’m actually heading myself.
Last weekend, after returning from a much-needed holiday, I completed an Anti-Branding workshop which, to be honest, was right up my street. A lot of what was being taught were things I’ve been quietly saying for years anyway. Stop trying to sound like everyone else. Stop squeezing yourself into boxes that don’t fit. Stop building businesses around who you think you should be instead of who you actually are.
Somewhere between my Pinterest mood boards, colour palettes, questioning business advice, and finally giving myself permission to stop playing safe, I accidentally created a brand character.
While everyone else seems to be using AI to create polished versions of themselves, I created a blue-skinned pop-art alter ego.
Before long, she had a name.
Rebel Nova. Nova means new. A star that suddenly flares up with extraordinary brightness.
The funny thing is, I never set out to create a character at all.
But I realised she represents the things I care about most. Curiosity. Creativity. Independent thinking. Having the courage to question accepted norms in health, business, and life. Refusing to apologise for being more than one thing.
For the last year, I've been trying to figure out how all the different parts of my life fit together.
Creating Rebel Nova helped me realise that the overlap is where the magic lives.
I've finally found a way to bring everything I do into one colourful, slightly rebellious, slightly ridiculous world that feels completely authentic to me. Plus, it has been SOOOOO much fun, and that matters more than anything!
