Back in 2019, my body was falling apart, and nobody could properly tell me why.
Brain fog so thick I couldn't think straight. Joint pain that made moving difficult. Psoriasis and inverse psoriasis that I just could not clear, no matter what I tried. The psoriasis was so severe that it left open wounds that wouldn't heal. And the chronic fatigue was just horrific.
Test after test, and I never got any solid answers.
It's only now, 6 years later, with all my experience, research, and in-depth study, plus going through systemic candidiasis (severe candida overgrowth) myself last year, that it all started making sense.
Candida overgrowth.
Candida is a type of yeast that lives naturally in your gut. But when it gets out of balance (hello, years of stress, antibiotics, sugar, and the standard Western diet), it can take over and cause absolute chaos in your system.
The symptoms? They seem completely unrelated:
Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
Skin issues - psoriasis, eczema, open wounds that won't heal
Joint pain and inflammation
Sugar and carb cravings you can't control
Fatigue that sleep doesn't fix
Mood swings and anxiety
Recurring yeast infections or thrush
Food sensitivities that seem to multiply
Sound familiar?
Another part of this is that candida overgrowth can trigger histamine reactions throughout your body. Your mast cells start firing off in all directions, causing inflammation everywhere.
Suddenly, you're reacting to foods you've eaten your whole life.
The medical system often misses this connection because they're looking at each symptom separately.
Dermatologist for skin, rheumatologist for joint pain, gastroenterologist for gut issues.
But your body is one connected system. When your gut is struggling, everything else follows.
The good news? Once you understand what's actually happening, you can start addressing the root cause instead of just managing symptoms.
If you're reading this thinking, "That sounds exactly like me," you're not imagining it. Your body is trying to tell you something important.
Are you dealing with any of these symptoms? I'd love to hear about your experience in the comments, you might be helping someone else realise they're not alone.
