School Shoe Fitting 👟

Please ensure you get your child’s feet correctly measured before buying school shoes. It is so important that children’s shoes fit them. Different brands, materials and styles can all result in shoes varying in size.

Louie had his heart set on Dinosaur shoes ahead of starting P1 and was over the moon to pick his own.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding over the last few months.

I am back open business as usual with an unprecedented amount of voicemails, emails, social media messages and enquiries which is taking me a wee while to get through, as well as rearranging cancelled appointments.

Are you a nurse, care assistant or support worker, do you spend long shifts on your feet?
Nursing and caring careers are demanding jobs, they often require long shifts with lots of standing and walking and at times you may need to break into a jog or run when a situation arises!
Having the right footwear can improve comfort throughout your shift and help reduce foot and leg pains and prevent injuries. We see a lot of nurses and carers in our Podiatry foot and ankle clinics with foot pain secondary to their work. Often we recommend running trainers, they have lots of additional features which can really help. Whether you have high, medium or low arch foot types there are trainers out there to suit your foot. Some of the helpful features we recommend include;
· Deep heel cups
· Cushioned tongues
· Breathable uppers
· Foam or gel cushioning
· Arch posting ( neutral / pronation control)
· Heel drops (the difference between the heel height and forefoot height, often ranges between 4mm-12mm)
· Forefoot rockers (where the front of the shoe is stiff and goes up at the end)

These features can help with fit and comfort of the shoe, can distribute the weight evenly between the heel and forefoot when standing for long periods and support your feet during all the steps you take during your shift.

Stubborn Verruca? 🦠

Verrucae are part of the Human Papilloma Virus group and can be very stubborn to treat without professional help.

This patient had these lesions for years; tried every over the counter option, old wives tales, been to the GP with no joy.

Only 4 sessions with the brand new, highly effective treatment and she has finally waved goodbye to them.

Suitable for patients over 5yrs old but not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women.

👞 👟 🥾 SHOE APPEAL

For 2024, one of our Charities of the Year is the amazing Forgotten Feet - Helping Homeless Feet where Podiatrists provide safe and professional access to footcare for the homeless which includes providing footwear.

If you have shoes or boots which are barely worn, in good condition, new or almost new, we would be delighted to donate them on your behalf to the Charity.

From Monday 8th January, we will have a donation box in the Clinic where you can drop them off.

All we ask is if you can please bag/ wrap them and write/ label bag with the size of shoes.

📍 Glasgow, Edinburgh & Dumfries and Galloway have services and the footwear box will be donated.

If you have any footwear which would be suitable or if you’re having a clear out soon please keep us in mind.
