Mindfulness with Jocelyn

Mindfulness with Jocelyn I am a qualified Mindfulness & Compassion Teacher with a passion to reach the world. No special skills, beliefs or equipment was needed.

I am forever grateful that I found mindfulness over 4 years ago when my dad moved in with me and I became his carer. The pressures and demands of being a mum, wife, worker, home maker and now daughter were leaving me stressed, depleted and emotionally out of balance. I was invited to an Introductory Mindfulness Course with few expectations but a hope that it would help. I left feeling uplifted and

amazed that I could feel so different by just paying complete attention to the present moment. Combining mindfulness with compassion is incredibly powerful for me. And like anything we find that inspires us or when we come across a beautiful view or a curious insect, I wanted to share it. All of us – parents, children, carers, workers – we all deserve to find and enjoy balance in our lives. I offer courses, workshops,1:1 and group sessions either face to face or online. Direct message me to explore how I can help you.

Did anyone else do a double take when they saw this label on their innocent smoothie bottle? I went from "omg, someone messed up big time..." to "ha, phew, that's really funny. I love how product labels can be quirky."

And then I thought about mindfulness and how it can help our concentration by practising how to focus and manage distraction.

I've not perfected it - no where close. But even if 10% of the time, my concentration is improved, well that's 10% better than where I was. xx

I’m so excited about this. I home educate my youngest son (aged 14) and discovered pop songs (and rap) as a way to introduce the poetry analysis techniques needed for GCSE English literature. The impact was powerful. Maybe it could work for your child as well. This session is open to all teens and their parents/guardians to give it a try. Please join me for a fun and insightful free event. Hope to see you there.

Big shout out to the Ivybridge Book Shop for hosting.

I was delighted to support South Devon Tennis with their vision to deliver inclusive autistic friendly sessions. Where they lead, may others follow.

I deliver neurodiversity awareness training alongside my mindfulness teaching. After all, both impact on our wellbeing, and wellbeing knows no barriers. xx 🙏

What a great morning we have had at SDTC! Our staff and coaches, along with other incredible local coaches from Devon and Somerset, came together for a Neurodiversity Awareness training session.

At SDTC, we are deeply passionate about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and empowered to enjoy the benefits of being active. As a proud neurodiverse aware centre, we are committed to fostering inclusivity—not just in tennis but in every aspect of our community.

This training is just one part of our mission to ensure that everyone can find their place on the court. This is ahead of us launching our new 'Smashing Spectrum' programme in January 2025, where we will deliver specialised tennis coaching for children with autism.

A big thank you to Jocelyn from Mindfulness With Jocelyn for delivering the training and to everyone who joined us today to learn, share, and grow together. Let’s keep breaking down barriers, celebrating differences, and making tennis accessible for everyone! 🥳🎾

I'm a little late I know, updating my cover photo and profile to a summer theme but life has been a little busy - not to mention that summer has arrived this week in the UK. 🌞

To underpin and continue my mindfulness work, I started work as a part time marketing manager in January (returning to my original love) and we continue to home educate my autistic son.

But wellbeing is still my passion. I still want to be an active part providing this vital work. So yes, I'm stuttering and starting as I make my way, but rest assured, my heart remains as determined as ever. 💕

Once again, I'm happy to support the Mental Health Foundation this Mental Health Awareness Week – 13 to 19 May. I'd love to add my effort to theirs to create a world with good mental health for all.

This year’s theme is movement: moving more for our mental health.

As a mindfulness teacher, I’d like to share how we can combine mindfulness with movement – so two benefits rolled into one.

First one up is mindful walking. To access my guidance, please head over to my website:

There are some great resources here about wellness through the menopause. Nutrition, exercise, emotional wellbeing... Worth taking a look... and not just for menopausal women. The advice is relevant to everyone to support self care.

https://www.womens-health-concern.org/help-and-advice/menopause-wellness-hub/

However you choose to manage your menopause symptoms, your lifestyle choices are going to be the cornerstone of any treatment plan you choose. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other complementary and alternative treatments can all be very helpful, but the tr...

Lessons from nature…

How much better do you feel after an hour walking out in nature compared to an hour lost to social media? Green and natural scenes rest the pre-fontal cortex (PFC) of the brain and help to refocus our minds so we can think more openly and creatively. Ooo… such synergy with mindfulness…

So, put down your phone, and go outside. It’s time to restore your mental balance.

This fact and image resonated strongly with me. With an autistic family, I pride myself on being a neurodiversity champion who delivers neurodiversity awareness training.

BUT... neurodiversity acceptance is where I want us to be. We need diversity and need to appreciate the value it brings. So, note to self. I now deliver "neurodiversity acceptance" training. ❤

Depending on where you live in the world, it’s Autism Acceptance Day / Week / Month in April. Living in an autistic family, this topic is naturally close to my heart. So, when I came across these fifty facts succinctly created by Autistic Not Weird, I wanted to share them. It's worth taking a look.
