Our food philosophy – nourishing the nervous system at the Spring Retreat
Food at the Spring Equinox Retreat is chosen with the nervous system in mind.
As we transition from winter into spring, the body and brain benefit from steady energy, digestive support and a sense of safety rather than stimulation. Meals are built around whole, seasonal ingredients that help regulate blood sugar, support the gut–brain connection and reduce unnecessary physiological stress.
Fermented foods, fibre-rich vegetables, pulses and whole grains provide nourishment for the microbiome, while fresh roots, herbs and warming spices such as ginger and turmeric support circulation and digestion without overwhelm. Dishes are layered, warm and satisfying, encouraging a calm, attentive relationship with food and allowing the nervous system to settle, adapt and gently re-engage with energy and focus.
Our amazing chef Sandy from Dartmoor Larder creates our menu with love and care. The food at our retreats is an amazing, delicious highlight :)
