I help women (and men), improve their quality of life through therapeutic yoga, mindfulness meditation and breath work. This approach fosters self compassion, a strong healthy body, improving mobility, flexibility and helps develop inner resilience. I am a fully qualified and insured yoga teacher trained by the Sivananda Vedanta School of yoga with additional training in adaptive yoga and yoga therapy. I have been teaching asana, pranayama, mindful meditation and yoga nidra to beginners since January 2015, primarily to veterans and more recently peri and post menopausal women.

Time to breathe and simply be, before we move on.
A Moment of Pause
Taking time out is not a luxury,
it is essential.
In life’s relentless motion,
when deadlines press,
responsibilities pile,
and the world grows loud,
we often forget
that pauses are as vital as breath.
Even a few quiet moments
allow us to reconnect with ourselves,
to hear the subtle rhythm
of our own hearts,
to restore the balance
stress so easily disrupts.
In these small pockets of stillness,
we give ourselves permission
to be present,
to observe without rushing,
to simply exist
without expectation.
No matter the chaos,
the demands,
the pressures,
these moments are not wasted.
They are acts of quiet self-care,
sustaining us,
helping us meet life
with clarity,
calm
and resilience.

As we welcome the new year perhaps your thoughts are turning to the changes you want to make and what you want to create more space for in the coming months.
If it is to spend more time improving your health and wellbeing, then yoga might be just what you’re looking for.
Forget images of super bendy girls in bikinis doing impossible poses on tropical beaches, ladies in flowing robes and beads, looking ethereal and serene or men in loin cloths sitting in the lotus position. This is a very narrow representation of the yoga world.
Yoga classes, on the whole are filled with people just like you. Not bendy, not in the latest gear, but sweating and creaking and looking like we’ve just rolled out of bed.
What you will experience in my classes, is a beginner friendly program which can be adapted to accommodate your unique body. You will learn how to move with more ease and leave with a new found sense of wellbeing.
I run classes in Ermington, Modbury, Yealmpton and Newton Ferrers. Begi
nners are very welcome.

And breathe….🧘🏻♀️
When life speeds up, you don’t have to keep pace with it.
Sometimes five simple breaths are enough to reset your whole direction.
Arrive.
Soften.
Open.
Ground.
Begin again.
A few mindful moments can shift the way your entire day unfolds. 🌿

Chronic inflammation is linked to myriad conditions including poor cardiovascular health, weakened immune system function, anxiety, depression, and even dementia.
New exciting research suggests that yoga may alter markers of gene expression linked to inflammation.
Halasana, also known as the Plow Pose, is a yoga pose that involves lying on your back, lifting your legs over your head until your toes touch the floor behind you. Here are some benefits:
1. **Stretches the Spine**: Lengthens and strengthens the spine, improving flexibility.
2. **Relieves Stress**: Calms the mind and reduces stress and fatigue.
3. **Improves Digestion**: Stimulates abdominal organs and aids digestion.
4. **Enhances Blood Circulation**: Promotes better blood flow throughout the body.
5. **Reduces Back Pain**: Alleviates tension in the back and shoulders.
6. **Boosts Metabolism**: Helps regulate metabolism and body weight.
Halasana is typically practiced towards the end of a yoga session for its calming and restorative effects.
Although considered a beginner yoga pose, I would suggest that if you have any neck issues you shouldn’t be trying this.

I have been practicing yoga for over 18 years but really came to love yoga when I was recovering from frozen shoulder and contemplating life after a redundancy at work, (20+ years working in Mental Health). So my route into yoga was therapeutic. On a mountain retreat in Turkey, surrounded by the sounds of birds and goats, the smell of wild herbs, watching the sun set over the distant mountains, I had what I can only describe as an epiphany. For the first time ever I felt at home in my body. I decided in there and then that I wanted to share this feeling with others.
One year later, and a 5350 mile trip to India, I became a fully qualified yoga teacher. I trained at the Sivananda Vedanta School of yoga. I have since gone on to study Yin Yoga Level 1 under Sarah Lo, (Insight Yoga), Para Yoga Nidra Immersive with Rod Styker, Adaptive Yoga with Suzie Jennings (Kripalu Yoga & Help for Heroes) and Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs with Alison Trewhela. I am currently completing my Postgraduate Yoga Therapy course with Devon School of Yoga. I continue to grow and develop my knowledge of yoga as a therapeutic tool.
My particular areas of interest are
Yoga for depression, anxiety and improving mental health
PTSD and Trauma informed yoga
Yoga for managing low back pain and SI joint instability
Yoga for aging well
Yoga for menopause
I have been teaching asana, pranayama, mindful meditation and yoga nidra to beginners since January 2015, primarily to veterans and wounded servicemen.
Like my students, I am at the beginning of my learning and I can't wait to see where it will take me.
