Two lovely reviews we have received from family members... ❤️

Overall Experience
5.0 out of 5
My mum is so happy in her care home, we visit every day and get on well with management and all staff. I couldn't have asked for better care. If I have any concerns, the staff are always on hand to answer my questions.
Overall Experience

I cannot overstate how pleased we are, as a family with the care mum has received at Palmersdene. The staff are very professional, clearly well trained and very friendly. The management are visible and approachable and always available to discuss any concerns. Medical issues are picked up on quickly, dealt with immediately and monitored carefully. The home is always spotlessly clean. Food is freshly prepared and a good choice of meals is offered. What more can I say? Mum is happy.

Huge well done to all the staff at Palmersdene who go above and beyond every single day, you are all very special 🥰🥰🥰

“Christmas can be a difficult time for those who find themselves alone, and at our home we believe nobody should feel isolated during the holidays. We’re opening our doors on Christmas Day to welcome a few members of our local community to join us for a festive lunch, companionship, and a day of warmth and laughter. If you or someone you know would enjoy some company this Christmas, we would be delighted to share the day with you.”

Anchor - Palmersdene care home in Jarrow has proudly celebrated achieving Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, recognising its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.

Residents, families and members of the local community joined the celebration, including Veterans for Veterans in Care, who presented 98-year-old resident Tommy with his own veteran badge. Tommy served as a gunner in the Royal Artillery, and the moment was a highlight of the day.

Gaining VFF status means the team at Palmersdene has demonstrated high standards of person-centred care for veterans, helping ensure their practical, emotional and social needs are supported.

To celebrate 5 years of our Be Well service, we're highlighting the positive impact it has had on many of our residents.

One strand of Be Well is Be Active. Be Active is our wellness and movement programme that supports residents to take care of their overall health.

At Cherry Trees in Redcar, Be active has been incorporated into many of the residents' daily lives. We spoke with two residents, Sue Mitchell and Maureen Russell, who share how Be Active has created a sense of community as the sessions have created a space for them to chat and get to know each other better.

Our Be Well service offers residents a variety of initiatives and activities designed to support with their wellbeing. These vary from Be Active which focusses on leading an active lifestyle to Be Connected which helps foster connection between residents.

Be Well recently turned 5, and to start the celebrations, Lauren Smith, Resident Wellbeing Lead at Anchor, talks more about how the service has grown into what it is today.

In her blog she talks about how Be Well started as a simple idea to provide residents with the resources to take care of their wellbeing and the amazing things that have been achieved along the way.
