The annual Hand Ba' takes place today 19th February 2026 with the boys ba' starting at 12noon and the men's at 2pm.

Traditionally the first ever game was played with an Englishman’s head and the ribbons on the ball symbolise his hair. The teams (Uppies and Doonies) are chosen by where they live – Uppies are those born to the South and Doonies to the North of the Market Cross.

A wonderful Jedburgh tradition steeped in history, celebrating 125 years. As your local independent funeral director, we are proud to be supporting this event again this year. We hope everyone has an enjoyable day.
