And so it begins! For the next 6 months you will find me immersed in another certification training, this time focussed totally on Gynaecology - my favourite!! It’s going to be a heavy 6 months because Leah takes no prisoners and has you reading hundreds of papers on top of lectures and tutorials! But when my patients present to me with their complex fertility history and current fertility of pain struggles I like to understand all the minutiae of why they’ve found themselves in this position and working with Leah helps to enhance this understanding of that journey. Expect me to be quoting lots of trivia about the brain, ovaries and uterus at you these next few months! ❤️

When .duckworth asks for blood, she means it!! 😂 This is the most number of vials I’ve ever had to fill and I was worried I would be leaving my patient with nowt!! But her body gave it up happily! I often bring Inna in on board to explore issues with the immune system and microbiome, if my patient has experienced recurrent miscarriages or recurrent implantation failure. So if this is you, let me know if you want Inna on our team. But be prepared for me to do a collection like this on you!!

This was a great Christmas present! This is my PCOS patient who hasn’t had another pregnancy since her first one in March 2024. When she came to me I addressed her thyroid health and did a vaginal Microbiome test with my favourite company which flagged up things we needed to clear and improve on with antibiotics and herbal medicine. (Those were some pretty strong tasting herbs but she bravely finished the lot! 😂)

And three months in, we have this result!!

I always ask you to give me time: it takes time to do some investigations and to work on the results we get, the egg cycle itself is about 4 months so it can take that long to start seeing the healthier eggs coming through once we’ve altered the environment they’re growing in etc. But often with time, we’re rewarded!

At the start of this year, following in the footsteps of my dear friend Lisa , I decided to try and do 2024 miles in 2024! These days I am very much not a runner, but Lisa said don’t worry, just move the year, rather than run the year! So these miles were achieved through hiking and cycling (spinning!) It’s fitting that the 2024th mile was achieved with because she’s cycled a lot of these miles with me, and even more appropriate that we did it in ’s charity spin class because she’s cycled is also our weekly feature. Lisa smashed it by reaching 3000 miles - that’s what living in Chicago and getting up at the crack of dawn to exercise does for you! I don’t think I’ll ever reach that but I’ll definitely aim for 2025 miles next year! If anyone wants to take on the challenge, I recommend downloading Run the Edge!

Working with Lauren has been an absolute dream, she was experiencing period hell when she came to me and was caught up in such a hormonal rollercoaster. It was a joy to get her to the point where she was no longer plagued at all by any symptoms of her menstrual cycle and was back in charge of her life!

At the start of 2024 I joined a number of practitioners spread out across the globe to be part of the first cohort of the Advanced Fertility Certification run by the incredible . This weekend I finally graduated after submitting 5 assessments for modules covering female and male fertility, couple fertility, fertility assistance and ART and pregnancy loss. Each of these modules went deep! It’s been a full on and intense schedule of studying around practice but so worth it. And I’ve come through the other side feeling even more specialised and able to inform and help my patients navigate this rocky path of infertility and formulate appropriate treatment for each individual.
The learning doesn’t stop there: because of my special interest in endometriosis and all things gynaecology I will be continuing my learning with Leah by embarking on her gynaecology course next year!

Just showing you guys I walk the talk!! 🙌

During my trip to the states my colleagues and I all used each other as case studies and diagnosed and prescribed for all our ailments! We came up with a combination of three formulas for myself which I will be taking for the next four months.

This year I’ve been coming on with frequent coldsores, viral rashes with every cold I catch and some lingering rosacea. I’ve identified some food sensitivities thanks to a brilliant FIT test I use with patients (sob, COFFEE!!! Plus dairy and eggs!! 😱 Goodbye tiramisu, you have my heart) so I’m eliminating these for a bit but, I’m really hoping to accelerate my healing with my own favourite superpower, Chinese herbal medicine.

Inflammation, Endometriosis and Fertility. A subject I don't seem to stop talking about!

But look at all those things we have control over!! By working on these, we can make our physiological age younger than our chronological age (or definitely not older than it!!) and improve our prospects for conceiving.

If seed cycling works for you, that's great - but if there's a particular seeds you love and you find to be beneficial, don't limit yourself to one phase of the cycle!

Lynsey always said she wanted to be an Underdog back when I started my little series, and I think neither of us can believe the day arrived in which we could tell this story. I'm so grateful to her for allowing me to write it all. out here for you all.

Time and time again I see women's bodies go on to defy the prognosis of surgeons, to defy the stats laid out before them by consultants, and to often achieve something they were told was not possible.

Here we are on the next installment!

I don't know if this effectively summarises just how much a state Lynsey's body was in when she came to see me. The headaches and migraines, the pain and exhaustion from Endo, and of course the heartache from her fertility journey so far.

I was so blessed that she put herself in my hands; she was the best team mate I could have asked for and she got firmly stuck in! She also made every session with her an absolute hoot because in all of this, she kept her feet on the ground and didn't lose sight of what made her Lynsey. It is so easy to lose our identity in the world of TTC and forgetting what made us ourselves before we start on that journey.

I'll conclude her story tomorrow - it's a good one, I promise!!

I've been burning to tell Lynsey's story for quite some time because it just fills you with SO MUCH HOPE!! For anybody living with Endo, trying to conceive and worried they are running out of time, Lynsey's story shows us that a woman's body can always surprise us when we least expect.
