The big reveal is finally here! 🎊 We want to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has already offered such incredible support and followed our journey so far. ❤️

We are delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new community project, the Airedale Seniors Collective! 🌟 We have listened closely to our local community and are thrilled to be launching this dedicated community hub for anyone over 65 living in the Airedale area. 🏡

Our hub will be designed to be mobile, heading out to various local venues, church halls, and community centres across the Aire Valley and Keighley to bring people together. ☕️🍰 We are so excited to get started and we cannot wait to announce the date of our very first gathering.

Before we do, we want to hear from you! 📢 Where would you like to see our collective visit? Please suggest any community venues in the comments that you think would be a perfect spot for us to host a session. ✍️

We also want this to be a space you truly enjoy, so please let us know what you would like to see at our community hub. Whether it is specific activities, guest speakers, or just a good old-fashioned cuppa and a chat, your feedback is so important to us. 💬✨

Something big is brewing behind the scenes at Spellman Care! 🤫

✨ We are currently working hard on two secret projects that we simply cannot wait to share with you. These initiatives are all about enhancing the wonderful lives of our residents and strengthening the connections that make our home so special. One project is dedicated to our amazing local community, while the other is specially crafted for our incredible colleagues who go above and beyond to support our residents every single day. 🌟

It has been a truly action-packed few days at Steeton Court Nursing Home! We have been so busy keeping our residents active, entertained, and smiling. 🌟

Saturday was simply out of this world as we celebrated National Space Day! Our Harewood Unit residents reached for the stars by getting creative with painting and building their own space mobiles while chatting about the planets. It was such a joy to be joined by our lovely DOE girls, Millie and Elisa, who were fantastic helpers. To top it all off, we enjoyed some vintage Flying Saucer sweets, which sparked some wonderful reminiscence and laughter. We also made the most of the lovely sunshine, treating everyone to cool Cornettos while we tackled a Flora and Fauna quiz. A huge well done to Mr M for being crowned our quiz champion! 🚀🍦🌍

Monday was equally brilliant as we celebrated the May Bank Holiday in style! The energy on Harewood was fantastic as we swapped our balloons for footballs, spending a lovely hour throwing, catching, and stretching together. We even saw some impressive trick throws from J, which had everyone laughing! Our sunflower plants are also coming along beautifully, with Mr T and Miss M doing a great job leading the way with our gardening. 🌻⚽

The Bank Holiday celebrations continued with the wonderful Olivia, who had our home absolutely buzzing! She took us on a fantastic musical journey through the decades, and it was so heart-warming to see so many residents on their feet dancing. We were even treated to the sight of one gentleman jiving away—leaving his daughter completely stunned! Mr A was beaming with pride and had such a lovely time. 🎶💃🕺

Between the wonderful music, reading our Spellman spotlight newspaper, and all the lovely four-legged visitors stopping by, it has been a truly special time for everyone. We love seeing our residents so engaged, connected, and happy.

We had such a wonderful day yesterday, filled with laughter and community spirit!

Our morning began with so much energy in the Cavendish conservatory as Oona, Wendy, and the gang joined us for our weekly intergenerational session! 🌟 The children delighted us all with their beautiful singing, and hearing their voices as they performed songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star really filled the room with joy. Oona then led us through a variety of fun exercise techniques, and our residents had a fantastic time moving, dancing, and using lots of bright and colourful props. ✨️ It is so special to see this group becoming more popular every Thursday morning, and we all truly look forward to it! 🥰

We spent a relaxing afternoon soaking up the lovely weather with a quiz in the sunshine! ☀️ We challenged ourselves with a range of categories from history and general knowledge to science and nature, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. 🍦 For those who preferred to just sit back and relax, it was the perfect opportunity to chat in the friendly, sunny atmosphere while enjoying some delicious Cornetto ice creams. 🌞 It was such a lovely day spent together.

It has been a busy and heart-warming couple of days here at Steeton Court! 🌷✨

Yesterday was filled with adventure, starting with a lovely trip to Moss & Moor in Ilkley for coffee, cake, and a browse through their beautiful garden treasures. The highlights continued as our Harewood residents visited Craven Nursing Home to meet the gentle KL Therapy Ponies, Poppy and Glory. It was a magical afternoon, especially for one of our ladies who shared wonderful memories of horses while the ponies calmly rested by her side. We finished the visit by socialising with the Craven residents over cool choc ices 🐴🍦

Back at the home, we brought the outdoors in by gathering fresh bluebells and tulips from our garden to share with residents in their rooms, and we welcomed our newest ladies with cheerful bouquets. Our Harewood residents also turned into chefs for the morning, rolling dough and choosing fresh toppings for a fun pizza-making workshop! We even squeezed in a bit of late afternoon sun in the garden to round off the day 🍕☀️

The pampering has been in full swing today, with a very busy afternoon in the salon. Sharon worked her magic on a long list of ladies, ensuring everyone felt beautiful and refreshed. We also made sure to spend time in bedrooms so everyone could enjoy some TLC and a bit of pampering 💇‍♀️✨

We ended the afternoon with our "sun chasers" out in the garden, enjoying the fresh spring air and the budding flowers. It’s been a truly wonderful start to the week! 🌱☀️

Yesterday was a wonderfully busy start to the week here at Steeton Court! 🌟 We spent the morning making our way around the units for some meaningful one-to-one chats with our residents. It was the perfect opportunity to catch up on the news from the past week and look forward to the week ahead, including our upcoming trips and activities. 💬

The home had a lovely atmosphere with plenty of visitors popping in, and we were all delighted to see Physio Rosie back with us! We rounded off the morning with a lively game of balloon tennis, which brought out plenty of smiles, laughter, and some truly impressive rallies. 🎈🎾

In the afternoon, we headed out to make the most of the beautiful sunshine in the garden. Even when the heavens opened, it didn't dampen our spirits—we simply moved into the conservatory to stay dry while enjoying the relaxing sound of the rain on the roof! 🌦️✨

Friday was a wonderful and busy day for our Harewood community! The morning was spent creating some stunning flower arrangements, which was followed by a lively session of musical bingo in the afternoon. It was lovely to see our residents enjoying the variety of activities on offer, and we were so pleased to have our staff and relatives joining in to help and share the fun ✨️

On Saturday morning, we wanted to make sure everyone upstairs in isolation felt especially thought of. The beautiful flowers arranged during Friday’s activity were carefully prepared and sent up in the lift as a gift from the downstairs community to the upstairs community 💕

The creative spirit continued with a lovely morning of spring pot decoupage! It was fantastic to open this activity to all of our Harewood visitors, residents, and staff. We had a brilliant time choosing colourful napkins with different patterns to transfer onto our plant pots, and the finished results are simply beautiful 🌼 🏵

We made the most of the gorgeous weather in the afternoon, heading out into the sun to enjoy some refreshing juice and choc ices while wearing our sun hats ☀️ To keep the creativity flowing, we also did a spot of painting. Some of us decorated our plant pots while others tried their hand at canvas painting—we think Pablo Picasso might have some competition! 🎨 🖌

Our decoupage pots have now dried and look absolutely stunning 😍

Yesterday was such a lovely day at Steeton Court, and we are so pleased to share what everyone has been getting up to. We had a wonderful morning on the Harewood unit getting into the spirit for St George’s Day by making old-fashioned paper chains and bookmarks. It was also a big week for our sunflower competition, with T & P taking the top spots! We celebrated with smoothies all round and sent some quizzes over to our friends on Cavendish to let them know we were thinking of them 💞

The sunny afternoon was the perfect excuse to explore the garden. Activities like smelling fresh herbs are so beneficial from a sensory perspective, as familiar scents can be incredibly grounding and often spark wonderful memories for those living with dementia. We spent a lovely time weeding and chatting about nature before spotting a little robin enjoying our bird feeders 🐧 Back inside, we enjoyed some quality one-to-one time testing the maths skills of one of our retired bank managers and discussing his passion for Bradford City and the Bradford Bulls ⚽️🏉
