What a wonderful few days we’ve had at Steeton Court Nursing Home! 🌞

On Wednesday, residents from both units enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on Harewood, soaking up the sun with ice lollies and great conversation. 🍦 We shared stories of our favourite travels and admired the vibrant spring flowers blooming outside. 🌼 A big thank you to Sharon for working her magic in the salon, too! ✨

Yesterday was just as busy, starting with a refreshing hydration station featuring vitamin-rich waterADE drinks in lemon, strawberry, and blackcurrant. 🍓💧 We were then joined by Oona and the lovely children from Audrey Wynn’s childminding group for an energetic dance and exercise session! 💃🎶 The children were so kind to bring an Easter egg for our appeal basket after enjoying a post-class drink with us. 🐣😇

We finished the day by testing our knowledge with a fun general knowledge and history quiz, fueled by some healthy "brain food" – crudités and houmous! 💡🥕

We are delighted to invite you to our next Veterans Café tomorrow at Steeton Court Nursing Home! 🛩️

This month, we are incredibly excited to welcome The Shackleton Association for a fascinating talk on the magnificent Shackleton aircraft. This is a highlight that many of our RAF veterans are particularly looking forward to.

We feel especially privileged to host this session as the Shackleton Association officially drew to a close in December 2025. We are deeply grateful that they have kindly agreed to deliver this planned talk for our residents and veteran guests. 🎖️

If you haven’t joined us for our Veterans Café before, please do come along. These sessions are open to everyone, whether you served yourself, are a friend or relative of someone who served, or simply wish to enjoy a lovely social afternoon in good company.

Our doors open at 2pm tomorrow (20th March) for ninety minutes of camaraderie, social engagement, and the chance to learn something new. We look forward to seeing you there! ☕🍰

Happy St Patrick’s Day from everyone at Steeton Court! ☘️

Yesterday was a wonderful day of community and shared memories. Our scenic circular took us to the beautiful Keighley Tarn to watch the birds, where residents shared lovely stories of visiting with their own children in years gone by. 🌞🪿

Back home, we enjoyed creating a joint poster together and spending quality time with visiting families, looking through cherished childhood photographs. 📸

We also had a fantastic trip to Dementia Friendly Keighley (DFK). We felt so welcome sharing a cuppa, swapping craft ideas, and meeting their mesmerising interactive cat! A huge thank you to DFK for the Jelly Drops and hydration advice, which are a perfect addition to Nutrition and Hydration Week at Steeton Court! 💧☕️

It was a lovely surprise to spot Dave there too—we can’t wait for him to join us this Friday at our VFF with his amazing matchstick artwork! 🎨

The celebrations continued with our St Patrick’s Day hydration trolley—cheers! 🍻☘️

Today, the fun has stayed in full swing with our juice trolley and our "Funny For Nothing" Red Nose Day Funny Hat Fundraiser! 👒🤡

We’ve also been making the most of the spring sunshine with person-centred walks around the grounds, stopping to admire the flowers and getting our steps in. 🌷🌞

🌟 Celebrating Our Star Award Winners! 🌟

Did you spot our fantastic Star Award winners last month? In case you missed in our newsletter, we are absolutely delighted to announce that Sarah and Courtney both took home the winning positions for their incredible hard work and dedication to life here at Steeton Court. 🏆

Sarah was nominated for her constant cheery smile, her kindness, and her wonderful empathic nature that brightens everyone's day. 😊

Courtney received her nomination for the way she consistently ensures our residents are well cared for and for making sure the home is always brilliantly supported. 🏠

We are so proud to have such a dedicated team. Please join us in giving a huge well done to both Sarah and Courtney for their well-deserved recognition! 👏✨

It has been a truly special few days at Steeton Court, filled with creativity, connection, and some very touching moments of reflection.

We started our Friday by welcoming our friends from Dementia Friendly Keighley. We had a wonderful time chatting about our upcoming Memory Café, where they will be joining us to share information about all the fantastic support and activities available within our wider community.

The creative spirit was out in full force as we designed our own family crests. Whether working quietly in their rooms or joining the social hub in the hallway, everyone got stuck in. One gentleman was absolutely over the moon to complete his second crest of the week! Our "Crafty in Harewood" group also gathered in the afternoon to learn the art of making delicate crepe paper flowers. There was so much laughter as everyone mastered their new skills 🌸.

Saturday morning was a quieter, more reflective time for us all. Along with jewellery making and calligraphy practice, we came together to plant a rose bush in memory of one of our dearly missed residents. It now sits beautifully beside his wife’s rose bush, serving as a simple but lovely tribute to two people who are deeply missed by everyone here 🌹.

While the afternoon sun was a bit shy, we didn't let that stop the fun! We moved into the lounge for a lively game of "Guess the Word" with the help of Millie, our DofE student. From travel to animals, there was a category for everyone to test their knowledge 📚🦁.

To kick off Nutrition and Hydration Week yesterday, we combined our "This Day in the News" discussion with a visit from our travelling lemonade bar! 🍋 Residents loved the refreshing taste of freshly squeezed lemons, limes, and oranges. We also want to say a huge thank you to Nikki for the incredible homemade chocolate orange cake—it was absolutely gorgeous and made even more impressive by being free from sugar, eggs, flour, and butter! 💞

Did you know that this week is Nutrition & Hydration Week? 💧🍏

At Steeton Court, we are shining a light on the vital importance of eating and drinking well within a care home environment. To celebrate, we have an action-packed schedule of delicious, themed refreshments moving through the home all week!

🍋 Monday 16th: We’re kicking things off with a refreshing Smoothie Trolley to brighten up the day.

🍀 Tuesday 17th: Keeping energy levels high with Irish Themed treats for St Patrick's Day!

🍊 Wednesday 18th: Our Fruit Juice Trolley will be making the rounds with plenty of vitamin-packed options for everyone.

✨ Thursday 19th: A focus on wellness and variety with our Hydration Sachets Trolley.

🍉 Friday 20th: Finishing the week on a high with a juicy, colourful Watermelon & Fruit Trolley.

Proper nutrition and hydration are key to staying healthy and happy, and we’re making sure it’s as tasty as possible! 🥤🍍 Keep an eye on our page for photos of our residents enjoying these treats throughout the week.

Wishing a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers in our Steeton Court family and the wider community! 🌸

The celebrations continue tomorrow as we are hosting a special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea for everyone to enjoy.

We’ll be tucking into delicious treats and a lovely cuppa, accompanied by the brilliant Ukulele Henry, who will be providing live music to get our toes tapping! 🎶☕

It’s set to be a beautiful afternoon for our residents, relatives, and friends. We look forward to seeing many of you there!

It has been a wonderfully busy few days here at Steeton Court!

Tuesday was another beautiful "Trip Day" as we enjoyed the sunshine at Kilnsey Trout Farm. We watched the fishermen over coffee and even had a surprise visit from a friendly dog named Maisie who hopped on board for a fuss! On our scenic circular route, we passed the Cracoe war memorial and Rylestone cross before heading to Tarn House for a lovely afternoon of drinks, snacks, and great conversation. 🌞 🏞

Wednesday was a day of reflection and community. Karen visited residents individually for Holy Communion and shared moving conversations about the unconditional love of Mother’s Day. We also collected a generous donation of Easter eggs from Lynda at Tesco —thank you, Lynda! With spring in the air, our salon was full of chatter this afternoon as everyone enjoyed getting their hair done. Just a reminder that our flower craft session has moved to Friday! 💇‍♀️🌸

Yesterday started with an inspiring morning meeting with the Bradford Care Association for Wellbeing and Activity Coordinators, followed by some stretching with Oona and Audrey’s childminding group. We also spent a relaxing afternoon exploring aromatherapy, crafting pulse point balms, and enjoying soothing hand massages that left the whole home smelling divine! 🌿✨

It was a wonderful day at Steeton Court yesterday as we came together to celebrate International Women’s Day! 💜

Our morning began with some truly inspiring conversations. We spent time sharing stories and memories of remarkable women from both history and modern times. It was fascinating to hear everyone's thoughts and learn more about the icons who have helped shape our world.

During the morning, we also said a "see you soon" to one of our lovely ladies who has been staying with us for respite. We wish her all the best until her next visit!

The celebrations continued into a jam-packed afternoon with a performance from the fabulous Craig Carlisle. The lounge was full to capacity as Craig belted out classic hits that had everyone singing along. It created such a fantastic atmosphere and was a perfect way to honour the amazing women here at Steeton Court and across the globe. 🎤✨

🌟 Introducing the Steeton Court Memory Café 🌟

We are absolutely delighted to announce the launch of our brand-new Memory Café at Steeton Court ☕️ This initiative has been created to provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment for individuals living with dementia and their loved ones to connect and share stories.

Our Memory Café is a place where you can feel at ease, take part in gentle, dementia-friendly activities, or simply enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee and a chat with others who understand the journey. It is a space built on community and connection, and our doors are open to everyone 🤝

We would love for you to join us as we begin this journey together.

Our sessions will be held at 10.30am on the following dates:
