Do you remember our tiny Halloween sweethearts — the little souls found cold, soaked, shivering and clinging to each other in a forgotten garden?

Well… What’s this? What’s this? 👀

It’s the happiest news: Jack and Sally are now 8 weeks old, healthy, thriving, and heading off to their forever home — together. 💛🖤

These two went from shivering little pumpkins to strong, playful kittens thanks to their amazing foster carer, who hand-fed, medicated and cared for them every step of the way. We’re endlessly grateful for all their hard work. 🐾

And to everyone who donated toward their care- Thank you! Your kindness helped turn their frightening beginning into something truly Meowgical .❤️

She didn’t block the way, didn’t make a sound—she was simply invisible. Behind bars, a small silhouette listening for footsteps instead of searching for faces. When someone passed, she lifted her head as if to say, “I’m here.” And still, everyone kept walking.

Born blind, she had never seen the world—only smelled it, heard it, felt it. Her cage was an archive of sounds: keys clinking, jackets rustling, voices softening for a moment and then hardening again. I arrived with no plan, just that pressure behind the breastbone that drives me into shelters. Before I saw her, I heard her soft snuffle—carefully testing the air.

I knelt and said nothing. She found my hand, not my eyes. Warm weight against my fingers, a sigh longer than a breath. In that moment I knew my fear—wrong care, not knowing, doubt—was smaller than her trust.

At home, our exploration began. Furniture became outlines I arranged for her. My voice became her handrail. Two steps, stop. Three steps, treat. The garden smelled of rain and soil; that was her compass. Sometimes she bumped into things, paused, listened. I waited until her courage rose again like a quiet melody.

Her first “jump” onto the sofa wasn’t a jump—it was a triumph. I laughed; she wiggled her whole body as if she’d summited a peak. Later she ran across the lawn—not fast, but free—and my throat tightened. She saw nothing, yet found everything that mattered.

Today she recognizes me by the sound my keys make before I touch the door. She senses my tiredness before I admit it and rests her head on my knee, as if asking the world to be still. She is different, some say. I say: she is complete—in her way.

A disability isn’t a label that explains who you are. It’s another path through the same forest. Anyone who looks away from animals because they’re not “perfect” misses the best lessons: patience, gratitude, loyalty without conditions. I’ll never understand how a life can be discarded because it doesn’t fit an image. In her awkward turns, in the way she finds me by scent, in that oversized heart—there is more grace than any camera can capture.

She doesn’t know the world’s colors. But she knows its temperatures. She hears the smile in my voice. She smells summer long before it arrives. And me? I’m learning to see differently. Maybe she isn’t just my dog. Maybe she’s the lamp you only notice when it’s dark—and then she lights everything up.
