Goal setting has been shown to be an effective tool in rehabilitation after stroke and other neurological conditions.

As part of your initial assessment I will spend time discussing what is important to you and what you want to achieve in your physiotherapy intervention. We can then jointly identify some meaningful and achievable goals to work towards within your therapy sessions.

It's been an exciting few months with my youngest starting school and taking on a new role in a charity. These changes mean I now have more time to dedicate to seeing clients during the week rather than weekends only.

I am a neuro specialist physiotherapist, offering rehabilitation in your own home. As well as treating neurological conditions such as stroke and brain injury, I am also able to offer support with:
- progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinsons and MS
- falls prevention and balance
- rehabilitation post illness or hospital admission

🎄🎄🎄I hope everyone has had a joyful Christmas. It's been a busy one for me and my family. We have had a wonderful time celebrating all together for the last 4 days 🎅. I will be working in my NHS role over new year but will be back offering weekend appointments from 7th January. Looking forward to seeing clients old and new in the New Year 😊😊😊

I have worked in a number of specialities during my career but working with stroke survivors is where my passion lies. I have 15 years' experience working with people with stroke in acute and rehabilitation settings.

Starting Catherine Fussell Physiotherapy has given me the opportunity to help stroke survivors continue their rehabilitation journey outside of the hospital and in their own homes. Although the quickest recovery usually happens in the first days and weeks post stroke, improvements can still be made months and years after stroke has occurred.

What a lovely afternoon for driving around the Essex countryside, visiting clients in Tiptree and Braintree 🌞

It's really satisfying assessing and treating people in their own home. Rehabilitation makes so much more sense when you are in your own environment, surrounded by your own things and day to day challenges can be identified and overcome. And the bonus is you don't need to go anywhere to receive your specialist physiotherapy intervention!

💜💙 BIG NEWS 💜💙

For the last couple of weeks we have been welcoming Kerry McCrory to the practice.

Kerry is our full time Paediatric Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and we couldn't be more excited that she is working with us!

She has been steadily working through our waiting list and will have new initial assessment slots in the next couple of weeks.

Here's a little about her experience:

"Hi! I’m Kerry and I am a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist.
I graduated in 2019 from University of Reading.
Since then I have worked as a paediatric therapist, working with children from ages 2-16, in a range of settings including schools and nurseries.
I have gained experience working with a range of client groups including those with speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, developmental language disorder, autism spectrum disorder and social communication difficulties. Working alongside school staff, health care professionals and parents has honed my clinical skills.
I have attended courses such as WordAware training and Nuffield Dyspraxia training. I also have experience using Colourful Semantics, PECS and Attention Autism.
I have a particular interest in working with 0-5 year olds with speech sound disorders, and I love making my sessions as dynamic and exciting as possible for the children!
Outside of work I love football, seeing the world and attending concerts."
