The Lake District is a self-contained mountainous area of some 2,292 square kilometres with narrow, glaciated valleys radiating from the central massif with their steep hillsides and slender lakes which exhibit an extraordinary beauty and harmony. Needless to say, it's a pretty special place to visit whether it's the pull of the rugged fells, sour milk ghylls and crystal clear lakes, the abundance of local fresh produce and microbreweries, or historic literary associations: you really don't have to go far from Bramble's pick-up point to be submerged in the best of what Cumbria and The Lake District has to offer. Popular outdoor pursuits include fell walking and running, climbing, bouldering, ghyll scrambling, wild-swimming, paddleboarding, canoeing, mountain biking, road cycling, paragliding, caving, live music, ceilidh dancing, mountain festivals, meditation, yoga or simply exploring the historic area.
