We started this service about 4 years ago when very sadly we lost a special friend.

We purchased a wheelchair and called it Helen’s Chair. Since then, each wheelchair is named in memory of a passed loved one or someone special, each person continuing to give a helping hand to someone in need. We offer to “loan out” our lightweight, easy foldable wheelchairs, including paediatric wheelchairs, on a short-term basis, free of charge, to anyone for any need… recovery from injury or su

rgery, end of life care or just support to enable mobility and access to daily living with dignity. We now have 19 wheelchairs, and we desperately need to buy wheelchair bags, coseytoes covers, waterproof covers and maintain the wheelchairs we have to enable our users to use our Memory Wheelchairs. Sadly, anything that supports disability is expensive, so we need all your support to raise the funds to help us continue to help others. We work closely with Morecambe Bay Hospital, hospital outreach services such as Physio Support, End of Life Care Team, Community Nurses, local GP Practices, our Local Age Concern and Citizens Advice. It was another tough test for the lads at the weekend, facing Kirkoswald Reserves in what was our third meeting this season. Another heavily depleted squad, and having our top goal
scorer in goal, we knew we had to start fast and strong. We flew out of the traps early doors, going 3-0 up after 10 minutes, which caught the traveling side off guard. Credit to Kirkoswald Reserves, who grew into the game and made it difficult for us to secure our clean sheet.

Fantastic result on the road for the first team after what’s been a difficult few weeks for the lads. We picked our selfs up and made the trip away to Millhead with a heavily depleted squad which is always a tough game against a big set of lads on a very tricky pitch. We tried to blow them away in the first half firing into an early lead and ended up being 5-1 up at the break. We continued to show our dominance throughout the game creating plenty of chances and scoring more goals in the second half racing to 8-2 winners. Credit to the Millhead lads who stuck to their task and made things difficult for us. Great set of lads and good luck for the rest of the season.

Equipment!
We are seeing an increased amount of social media posts regarding NHS and council equipment which has been issued to help people with day to day living.

If you have seen a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or a trusted assessor and have been supplied with equipment, which you no longer require. Please return it so it can be cleaned and re used.

You can return walking aids to the physiotherapy department at the hospital.

All other equipment can be returned via Westmorland and Furness council -
