Very sad to pass on the sad news that Geoff Seddon recently passed away. Over the last few years I think I've mentioned Geoff on just about every course we've run. At 70 Geoff passed his Rescue 3 SRT instructors and then went on to gain his FSRBO instructors qualification. Geoff's ability in the water and at reading the water was amazing. I remember him showing up people in their 20's on long swims. When many people think that swiftwater is a young persons game Geoff showed us that we can continue for as long as we choose and it's not all about physical. Missing you already Geoff and your legacy will stay with us forever.

Just got back from an amazing week in Norway running WRT-Pro instructor training for Rescue 3 Norge AS. Many thanks to Simon Hansen for inviting me over, Rescue 3 Norge has a truly world class set up and really looking forward to working with them gain in the future, just amazing!

Just had all our Rescue 3 Slides and resources professionally translated into Modern Arabic. Looking forward to welcoming our guests to the UK for both SRT and Boat training in the near future and sharing approaches for dealing with large scale flood events.

Been super busy over the summer running Rescue 3 programmes for our industrial clients. As we move into winter and higher water levels time to get back into some SRT work!

Always good to look at new ideas for water safety and rescue. Out with Cumbria Fire and Rescue today playing with remotely operated rescue tools. Our general conclusions were that these could be brilliant for high footfall areas next to the water enabling a trained operator to help someone in moments. Never a replacement for personal water rescue training but an exciting development in the field of water safety.

Learning Zone
Brilliant to work with Cumbria Fire and Rescue last week on their Rescue 3 SRT Instructor training programme.
Lots of conversation about hitting the learning zone; the sweet spot between challenge and support where real learning occurs. Noticeably this was often created by playful experimentation in a safe environment - you know when you hit that spot was level of engagement goes through the roof.
Here we are using reach poles for entrapments in energised water and learning rescue techniques for weir rescue. We all know weirs can be lethal - but with the right safety framework we can train hard to ensure we are a good as we can be for real emergencies.
