Last year our Kendal Funeral Home was a collection point for ‘Operation Christmas Child’ this year;
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian international relief organisation. The mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities. They ship these simple gifts outside the United Kingdom to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease.
We managed to collect a whopping 143 (!!) boxes from our local community in Kendal, and we’re really proud of this! Hopefully there will be a lot of grateful children all over the world.
Lots of the boxes were donated by local Churches, groups and even some of our clients. At the end of September, we emailed a lot of local groups in our area, Churches, Care Homes, Scouts etc and asked if they would like to be involved, as well as mentioning this to our clients when they popped in and questioned why we had gifts under the tree as early as November. The word definitely spread through word of mouth and social media, and we happened to collect a record amount!
This year we just had confirmation that we are once again a drop off point for 'Operation Christmas Child'. If you want to pop in with any gifts or require more information, please call in advance to ensure we are around and available.
Lets smash last years record!!
