UHMBT Maternity We provide, compassionate, high quality, evidence-based and safe maternity services that meets the needs and wishes of all women and their families.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT), the trust responsible for Maternity Services across Morecambe Bay, has three maternity units at:

- Furness General Hospital
- Royal Lancaster Infirmary
- Westmorland General Hospital

ICON Week (22 - 26 September 2025) is a campaign dedicated to raising awareness about infant crying and how to manage it, supporting parents and carers, and preventing serious injuries, illnesses, and even fatalities.

Let’s talk gestational diabetes… 👶

If you’ve had gestational diabetes during pregnancy, you’re not alone – but did you know that the risk of type 2 diabetes is much higher after you've had gestational diabetes?

Up to 50% of women diagnosed with gestational diabetes develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years. But with the right support, that risk can be reduced.

🧪 You should be offered an annual blood test to check your blood sugar levels
