We are excited to officially name our office car - introducing HIEDI, our Home Instead Essential Delivery Initiative! 🚗💚

HIEDI is here to help our Care Professionals get to and from clients’ homes safely, as well as take clients to appointments or shopping trips. It’s all about making life a little easier, more comfortable, and enjoyable for the people we support.

If you see HIEDI out and about, grab a photo and share it with us - we love seeing where she ends up!

Our lovely client Norma and Care Professional Sophie enjoyed a magical trip to Bay View Garden Centre, taking in all the Christmas lights and decorations 🎄✨

One of our amazing clients very kindly gifted the office some fabulous brownies and cakes from The Ginger Bakers - and we’d be lying if we said they didn’t disappear the same day! 😋

Merry is all tucked up and off to bed - even busy elves need their rest! 🧝‍♀️✨

We’ve had lots of fun throughout December, but it’s just as important to slow down, rest, and recharge when we need to. A good night’s sleep doesn’t just help us feel brighter the next day - it can boost our mood, support our mental wellbeing, and keep our bodies healthier and stronger. 💛

As we count down the final sleeps to Christmas, let’s all make time to rest, recover, and look after ourselves.

Our Engagement Coordinator, Andrea, has been out and about again delivering more presents from our Be A Santa campaign 🎁✨

This time, Andrea visited Space2Create, where the gifts were warmly received. We’re so proud to be able to support local groups and help spread a little extra joy this festive season.

✨ There is still time to donate if you’d like to get involved. ✨
You can drop any donations off at Morrisons in Kendal, just after the checkouts, or simply call into our office on Monday 22nd and hand your donations to one of our friendly office team. 💚

We’ve sent out our client Christmas cards, beautifully crafted by the talented students at Castle Park Primary School ✨

Each and every card was hand-signed by all our office staff, making them extra special for our clients to receive.

Andrea, our Engagement Coordinator, has been out and about delivering the first of many Christmas hampers to our local community 💚

She started by visiting St John’s Hospice and Sandgate School, spreading some festive cheer and kindness to those who need it most 🎁✨

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to our Be A Santa campaign, and to everyone who took the time to nominate someone. Your nominations help us make sure we are supporting the right people – the people who matter most to you.

🎄 Naughty elf alert! Our office elf, Merry, was caught sneaking into one of our Care Professionals’ new rucksacks! 😅

Since moving from purple to green, our bag style has had a makeover too. Now, our Care Professionals can choose between a beautiful green rucksack or a navy blue shoulder bag (similar to the old style).

We want our team to be as comfortable and supported as possible while out providing exceptional care – because happy, well-equipped Care Professionals make a real difference for our clients! 💚💙

💚 Ongoing Training = Outstanding Care! 💚

Today we welcomed Kathryn, Thomas, and Claudia into the office for their annual mandatory training.

This training is a recap of previously gained knowledge and ensures all our Care Professionals are still following the correct procedures and standards of Home Instead. We covered:
✔️ Medications
✔️ Moving & Handling
✔️ Basic Life Support (BLS)
✔️ Clients’ well-being

It’s always wonderful to see our Care Professionals in person! 🌿 They’re usually busy out in the field, so having them in the office gives us a great chance to reconnect, answer questions, and make sure they’re fully restocked with PPE.

We also want to celebrate their amazing milestones:
🎉 Kathryn – 5 years with Home Instead South Lakes
🎉 Thomas – 2 years
🎉 Claudia – just finished her first year 🎉

We’re so grateful for their dedication and continued commitment to care. 💚

🎄 Mischief alert! Our office elf, Merry, was caught on a mission… trying to steal the blue gloves! 😅

At Home Instead South Lakes, staying protected and safe is one of our top priorities. All our Care Professionals are fully trained and always armed with blue gloves, aprons, and masks, ready for any eventuality.

Blue gloves aren’t just for show – they’re an essential part of keeping both our clients and Care Professionals safe. They’re used for:
- Personal care tasks, such as washing or dressing, to maintain hygiene
- Meal preparation and feeding, to ensure cleanliness and food safety
- Cleaning and handling laundry, to prevent cross-contamination
- Administering medication, to protect everyone involved

By wearing the right protective equipment, our team can provide compassionate care while staying safe and professional. Even Merry the elf can’t resist the blue gloves – they’re clearly important! 🧤✨
