We carried on with the second week of our Paul Klee Odyssey today, we watched fifteen minutes of an over-technical documentary, got bored with it, so we got stuck into some artwork instead.

Going back to A5 watercolour sheets, we carried on monoprinting using cooking foil, and drawing and painting in our sketchbooks.

We agreed Klee was something of a solo act, who drew inspiration and style from many artists and art movements. Next week it's Wassily Kandinski, an artist who worked with Klee and was working in the same dynamic, courful, abstract style.

Today the group worked on a variety of animals using soft pastels and water. We gridded up to transfer the image in dark pastel then used a damp brush to drag the pastels to create the shadows. We then put a base of pastels and water to block in areas before adding detail with the pastels.
