I’m so blessed I get to meet wonderful people all the time!

I felt so much joy and gratitude teaching my level 2 student Paulina yesterday. It’s so exciting for me to share what I have learned and to see someone else experiencing the magic of Reiki.

Reiki 2 is so much fun, we did distance healing work, meditations and delved into how to work as a reiki practitioner, as this course allows you to practice professionally afterwards.

It was so lovely teaching you Paulina, and thank you for all you have taught me. Wishing all the best.

Carers need to be cared for too!

It's hard being a carer, whether you do it professionally or are looking after a family member, it can cause burn out, stress and overwhelm.

It's important to take time out to look after yourself, to really give yourself permission to relax.

A lot of the time we think that we can de-stress in front of the TV, or looking at websites and apps on our phones, but this can actually just fill up your mind even more, adding to the worries. Media is the antithesis of meditation, it only makes your mind whirr around endlessly.

Instead, try to step away from technology for a while. Going outside for a walk in nature is the number one way to release tension, as the energy of plants and trees can actually replenish your energy and ground you.

Talking to a friend the old fashioned way: Go for a walk or a coffee together, you will be smiling in no time!

Pick up that paintbrush/knitting needle or book...hobbies are worthwhile and can help so much in switching off your busy mind.

Lastly, schedule in some self-care treatments. You ARE worth it. if you take care of yourself, you will be replenished and whole, and more able to take care of others. Imagine if you needed a carer, would you prefer one who is always frazzled and stressed, or one who is calm and joyful?

Reiki is universal energy, AKA, The Force!

Just as Rey uses the force to heal Kylo Ren, Reiki practitioners can heal using Reiki energy, although not in such a dramatic Hollywood fashion. Reiki can't bring people back to life, but it can help the recipient to replenish their energy, relieve ailments, release stress and create emotional balance.

How can I keep warm more effectively?

There are some obvious ways and less known ways to keep warm in winter. How many of these things do you do?

Wear base layers: modern thermals are much more comfortable, thinner, warmer and more breathable than the 'old lady thermals' were in the past! Use thermals tops, leggings and socks.

Trap in the warmth using air: Don't just pile on lots of tighter layers without air space, it's trapping the air that keeps you warm. Down/synthetic filled puffy jackets work much better than multiple dense heavy layers. Fleeces and real wool (especially cashmere) are good for trapping warmth.

Eat warming spices: ginger, chillies, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and pepper will increase your circulation and keep you warmer.

Have hot food and drinks, especially soup and stew. you will be sweating in no time!

Building muscles! Did you know that strength training not only makes you strong, but the muscles you build will generate heat better?

Go around your home and feel where the draughts are coming in. you can purchase all different types of products to prevent excessive air flow. My draughts were coming in through keyholes so I got covers for them.

Hot water bottles, heated blankets, heated throws, thick socks, furry slippers, hats and gloves (fingerless if working from home!) really help.

Move around a lot! This helps to generate body heat.

Close the doors of the room you are in and also close the curtains before nightfall to keep the heat in.

Be with other people, rooms with more people in are warmer!

You can buy portable heated pads for shoes and gloves, and even heated gilets.

Putting hot water in the sink and soaking your hands in it for a while.

Always carry a scarf, hat, gloves and umbrella with you in winter so you don't get caught out.

Ear muffs work! If you don't like the look, how about padded wireless headphones? They do the same job and you can listen to your favourite tunes at the same time!

Deep Heat or other types of creams that feel hot, can be rubbed into the feet if you don't have sensitive skin.

I'm so excited! I am now offering a Reiki level 2 course! It has been a labour of love and has taken a long time for me to write it, but it is now finally ready.

In this level students can learn how to become a professional Reiki practitioner and be tutored in how to set up their own practice. They will also work more deeply with the energy and find out how to do distant healings on people all around the world!
