Worried about HEARTBURN? (2)
THE CRUCIAL ROLE OF STOMACH ACID
Stomach acid is responsible for:
• Breakdown of food in general, especially proteins found in meat, legumes, nuts and seeds etc.
• Forming an acidic barrier to pathogenic bacteria, regulating the population and composition of bacteria in the small intestine.[ii]
• Absorption of minerals and vitamin B12
• Deactivation of environmental antigens (proteins that can cause allergic reactions, if exposed to our immune system).

I would like to share the info regarding Blue Light Exposure: WE ARE VISUALLY CONNECTED TO COMPUTERS, TABLETS, PHONES, AND GAMES. PEERING INTO THE DIGITAL WORLD FOR HOURS CAN DISRUPT OUR ENTIRE SYSTEM.
As digital device use increases, more and more people suffer from digital eyestrain symptoms. One cause of this is believed to be the blue light emitted from the displays of such devices. Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation that carries energy. The shorter the wavelength, the stronger energy. Because blue light has the shortest wavelength in the visible light spectrum it carries the highest amount of energy. Recent evidence suggests that blue light causes more damage to the retina, in particular with the development of age-related macular degeneration, which is the third leading cause of blindness worldwide.
Blue light, in particular at the 450nm point, is hard on the eyes for several reasons. This is the area that digital devices produce and this blue light is the only light that penetrates the eye all the way to the back to the retina. Blue light between 380 and 470nm is considered bad blue light because it can cause accumulated damage to the retina, cause cataracts, and is linked to sleep disorders.
All blue light is not bad though. Blue light from 470 to 500nm, also called blue turquoise light, is generally considered good for you. This range of visible blue light is beneficial because it provides natural reflexes protecting eyes from light overexposure and helps cognitive and memory function. It also stimulates the photosensitive retinal ganglion cells, stimulates pupillary reflex and controls the circadian cycle.
Other blue light blocking lens solutions only add coatings on the lens surface to reduce the amount of blue light that passes through the lens and into your eye. This has a very limited effect and only blocks about 10 to 20% of the harmful blue light.
GUNNAR lenses are carefully formulated to filter and balance light while absorbing 65% of (HEV) blue light emitted from digital devices. By designing our lenses to shift the color spectrum for visual efficiency, the GUNNAR amber lens takes artificial light and precisely tunes it to the physiology of the eye.
Initial research into the adverse effects of blue light on patients who suffer from Post Concussion Syndrome has shown that wearing GUNNARS can help reduce symptoms such as headaches, vertigo, difficulty concentrating, and light sensitivity. In addition, GUNNAR Optiks has recently been receiving a growing number of claims from concussion sufferers that our eyewear has helped.
Here is the study that was published in the Journal of Athletic Training: http://natajournals.org/doi/pdf/10.4085/1062-6050-49.3.78…
Northwestern University recently studied how artificial blue light affects the body’s metabolism and ability to produce insulin. Knowing past findings have shown that blue light triggers certain chemicals in the brain, researchers discovered that exposure to blue light not only adversely affected metabolism, but also increased insulin resistance. Ultimately, blue light can potentially lead to weight gain and even increase risk of diabetes.
The full study has since been published on the scientifically rigorous research and open access journal site, PLOS ONE

Worried about HEARTBURN? (1)
Having unpleasant feeling of acid in your throat and a burning sensation, is a very common problem. This is actually the symptom of Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The prevalence of acid reflux is on the rise and most of us have experienced it at some point in our life. Whether it is triggered by a glass of red wine or spicy food, it causes a great deal of discomfort to sufferers. Unfortunately, most people don’t take it seriously and put it down to having too much food or the wrong types. Popping a pill available over the counter, is easy, and can alleviate symptoms quite effectively. However, in reality chronic reflux is often more complex and can lead to ulceration and increases the risk of oesophageal cancer.

Prevention is better than cure so start making changes in your life style and correct your body’s electrical imbalance.

The EMS therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy that works alongside any existing treatments.

The EMS therapy is carried out using the Viofor JPS System, which is programmed to retune and harmonise cellular processes, thus keeping your body balanced and healthy.
A weak, slow-changing magnetic field is passed over the whole body or its selected parts.
The selection and combination of different magnetic signals improves transport of ions through cellular and intracellular membranes, thus stimulating correct cell function.

The therapy initiates healing, balancing and regeneration within the body. It can help you to maintain a good health as well as it can assist in the treatment of a wide range of ailments, including injuries and chronic diseases.

SAD - free tips how to help yourself:

1/ Get some sunlight; even winter sunlight makes one to feel better

2/ Boost your Vitamin D by taking a good supplement (D3 from Biocare is great)

3/ Make sure you do not have sleep deficit

4/ Avoid eating product high in refined sugar as this leads to sugar rush and consequently lower mood

5/ Exercise daily to ensure release of endorphins (feel good hormones)

6/ Consider taking B vitamins as research shows that they benefit mood

7/ Consider using a light box

8/ Deal with stress creatively (mindfulness)

Do not be SAD this winter!
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), sometimes called winter depression, is a type of depression that occurs in countries that are far away from the equator during the winter months.
Each of us has an internal body clock (circadian rhythm) which tells us when to be awake and asleep. We get disrupted production of melatonin, a hormone produced by pineal gland, which affects circadian rhythm. Reduction of sunlight in the winter is thought to influence our circadian rhythm, which most likely results in depressive symptoms.
Lack of sunlight may also affect the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter (brain chemical) that affects mood, social behaviour, appetite and digestion, sleep, memory and sexual desire. People with SAD during the winter months are said to have lower serotonin.
The EMS therapy is another way to treat SAD as it positively affects functioning of the pineal gland, which plays important role in the regulation of biological rhythms in the human body. Thus the therapy helps to regulate melatonin levels as well as enhances production of endorphins, which are natural pain and stress fighters.
