My cat went missing yesterday. I was walking everywhere from 6am until 7:30pm, checking peoples gardens and under caravans. He is black and white with a streak of white on his back, easily seen as he is black on his back and head and white under his chin and belly. He is very furry, long haired. He is 11 years old and if, as a woman said to me, he is trying to go back to where he came from originally, then he has a long journey back to Kings Hill. I imagine he could be seen anywhere inbetween.. If you see him, please message me. He went missing in Sheerness and possibly walking all the way to King's Hill. I am very worried. So please look out for him. His name is Jack.

Making a Dream Pillow with herbs. You can do this in a small breathable bag, preferably, so that the scent of the herbs will reach you while you sleep. You can tie the bag with a ribbon and place it on one of the posts of your bed or you can put it under your pillow or inside the pillow case.

These can help with restless sleep and help you relax into sleep.

I would recommend crushing the herbs before you place them in the bag because this will enable you to smell the herbs that you have chosen.

Lavender is a great choice, make sure that the lavender you pick for your pillow, is Lavendula augustifolia.

Use a tablespoon and measure out two tablespoons of lavender to put in your pillow.

Use one tablespoon of violets.

Use one tablespoon of mint.

Use two tablespoons of rose petals.

Use two table spoons of Valerian.

Mix these all together and place them in your breathable bag and crush them before you go to bed.

Enjoy a lovely relaxed sleep.

I expect that you have used this herb in cooking. However it is a fantastic healing abilities!!
Oregano as an essential oil is anti fungal and anti bacterial external! Taken as tablets make sure they are enteric coated tablets for gastrointestinal candidas and helps bowel flora and helicobacter!! Great stuff!!

Ladies Mantle is fabulous for women. This is really good for women suffering with Endometriosis. It is also useful in the treatment of Menopause. It is also fantastic for women suffering with heavy bleeding. It is an Anti-inflammatory and much more. Preferably for Endometriosis, book an assessment with your medical herbalist or me if you don’t have one locally. Taken as a tincture is a stronger option. However as an infusion it will still stop the heavy bleeding during periods or when perimenopausal. Please note that for Endometriosis you will need to take the tincture as prescribed by your medical herbalist for several months to reduce or eliminate the Endometriosis!

This wonderful herb is vasoprotective: antioedema: an antioxidant: and is anti-inflammatory.

It can be used for diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy - helps protect eyes from damage when you have diabetes type Ii or high blood pressure. It also protects against macular degeneration which is when the central part of the retina of the eye is affected and can result in distortion or loss of central vision. Bilberry can also help with eye strain, night blindness, glaucoma, fragil capillary veins and bleeding gums. So what a fantastic herb!!

Alcoholic Liver Disease.

This is taken from a controlled Study.

There was 60 insulin dependent diabetics who also suffered with alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. These people were given Silymarin -600mg per day. Alongside standard therapy over a 12 month period.
Silymarin is what is more commonly known as Milk Thistle.

In this study the Silymarin lowered the “lipoperoxidation of cell membranes and Insulin resistance and greatly reduced the over production of insulin and therefore reduced the need for external insulin administration.

There are a number of clinical trials with Patients treated with Silymarin. Silymarin is the major constituent of Milk thistle.

In one such trial patients suffering from Cirrhosis of the liver were given Silymarin tablets—140 mg - one tablet three times a day for a period
of 6 months. According to this trial, the serum levels of liver enzymes and bilirubin were greatly reduced compared to placebo.

There are several more clinical trials that cite this wonderful herb as helping reduce severity of liver function.

Milk Thistle also helps with fatty liver, chronic active hepatitis, gallstones, nausea, flatulance, abdominal bloating; Type ll diabetes; metabolic syndrome X and haemochromatosis.

So there you have it!! Wonderful stuff!!

Crataegus species -Hawthorn

There has been many clinical trials carried out on the beautiful Hawthorn. They confirm both the active and prophylactic treatment of heart disease. It also has an outstanding safety record. It can be used alongside orthodox medications and can reduce the symptoms of congestive heart failure and improves the quality of life. Studies show that it is an effective antioxidant which reduces the damage to the myocardium during reperfusion.
Crataegus also doesn’t have anti platelet effects so Crataegus laevigata would be safe for people who are prescribed anti platelet medication. Patients with atherosclerosis.
Crataegus Spp., inhibits the accumulation of cholesterol in the liver.
There is much more but this shows how amazing this wonderful herb is. Crataegus, Hawthorn is often known as the May tree! Love this tree but never forget she is a tree of the faery. Treat her with respect at all times.

1,000’s of women were accused of witchcraft in the UK and Ireland between 1450 and 1750! As a herbalist it is quite scary as many of the so called witches worked with herbs for healing and made charms for people that came to them for help. E.g. protection charms, charms for infertile women. For many people obtaining the help of a doctor was beyond their financial ability so the village witch was the one that villagers would come to for help. I suspect many patients coming to see the village witch would have a mixture of fear and gratitude. I bless my sister forebears but am very grateful that I live in this century as a herbalist.However there are many countries over the world that still persecute herbalists and witches. It is interesting to note Christianity run mostly by men do not get hounded or tortured for healings given by the minister or singing in tongues !! Think on this!! Herbal healers and gender persecution!

So today we are going to talk about lemon balm otherwise known as Melissa officinalis.

Lemon balm has a wonderful lemony scent and the leaves can be used in an infusion, steep for 20 mins in boiling water.

As a medicinal tincture it can help with getting better sleep, it can also help people who suffer anxiety, states of irritability and depression. It can be used to help babies who suffer colic. It is also helpful for alleviating flatulance and intestinal colic. Can also be used for fevers and IBS.

In Folklore, it is a calming herb and believed to bring comfort and emotional cheer. Take a look at Aubrey’s Legend of (Lemon) balm. 1696

I prescribe and dispense herbal treatments. Consultations range between £45 and £60, for one hour comprehensive assessment. Follow up appointments range between £22.50 and £35. Prescribed herbal medicines prices are variable depending on treatment and herbs required. Prescribed Medication may include: Tinctures; Bespoke tablets made by The Wisdom of Nature; Dried Herbs for Infusions; Bespoke creams, ointments and oils - these may also include Essential Oils.
