Don't know your HIV status? Pop into The Rubin Clinic at Maidstone Hospital or The Riverside Clinic at Gravesham Hospital during working hours this week, have a rapid HIV test and know your status. It's a free and confidential instant finger prick test which gives a result in 1 minute.

Get tested
Getting tested is the only way to find out if you have HIV. If you are living with HIV, starting treatment early means you can live a full, healthy and productive life. Free and confidential HIV tests are available from NHS s*xual health clinics (also called GUM clinics), charity testing services, many GP surgeries, pharmacies or online for self-testing at home.

It’s good s*xual health practice to test for STIs regularly. This could mean every time you have a new s*xual partner, or testing every three to six months. Using condoms helps lessen the likelihood of getting or passing on STIs and testing and treatment is easy and free.

The sooner someone with HIV starts treatment, the better it is for their health. People on treatment achieve an undetectable viral load, which means there's no more risk of transmission. Treatment is free to everyone in the UK.
