Do you suffer with back pain?

Here are some top tips for helping you reduce back pain without using painkillers:

✨Sitting
Sitting for too long is not good for our bodies and we aren’t designed to sit for long periods of times. In fact sitting for long periods of times can cause more pressure pushing down the spine than standing up.
- Avoid sitting for longer than 20minutes at a time, ensure you get up and move.
- If working at a desk, ensure the computer screen is at eye level.

✨Bag Check
Our spines and joints are what take the strain when carrying bags and loaded unevenly, they start causing excessive pressure on our bodies due to the uneven distribution of weight. Over time can cause pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders and spine.
- Always ensure when wearing a backpack to wear the straps on both shoulders and that they are an even length.
- Put your handbag across your body rather than on one shoulder, and alternate sides to even out the pressure.

✨Ice or Heat
Ice works by reducing swelling and inflammation as well as numbing the nerve endings, meaning it’s a natural painkiller.
Heat works by improving circulation and blood flow. Meaning it will soothe the discomfort and increase muscle flexibility.
- When using ice or heat wrap them in a towel as you do not want frost bite or burns on top of your pain.
- If using gel packs for ice and heat ensure that you have two separate packs for each use, as they tend to last longer.

Whether your New Year’s resolution is to exercise more, to treat yourself more often or to improve your general level of health & wellness, a deep tissue massage should be a key part of your regime.

💪🏼Enhance performance - regular deep tissue massages will increase blood circulation, helping relax muscles, therefore reducing tension & increasing flexibility, boosting your overall sporting performance.

🤕Reduce/prevent injuries - a massage will help reduce muscle tightness & tension, improve flexibility & increasing the range of movement aiding in injury prevention.
