Slowing Down - a foreign term for us humans !

When I asked what you guys wanted to see from me this was one of the topics. I remember writing a blog about the importance of rest and slowing down & then also running a group in my old job on the topic - it’s definitely something i’m super passionate about!

When I think of what I personally do to ‘slow down’ i look at my yoga classes that I push myself to attend throughout the week or the online classes if I can’t get to a studio.

I look at the no screen time rule i’ve given myself after 945 on a week night so that I can spend the last 30 minutes or so of my day reading a book.

Walking the dogs, having a bath, watching gilmore girls for the 100th time. All these different things which give me the space to switch off and slow down.

I ask what is it that comes to mind for you when you think of slowing down? What do you do for YOU?

So, what can you expect from All Things Wellness?

I’ve always had this pull to create a platform and a community where people can go to vent, to breathe, to listen & to ask questions.

A place where people feel at home. Comfortable. A judgement free zone.
A community built from the shared desire to live life to our full potential & and be true to our selves.

That’s what i want All Things Wellness to be.

A selection of content to suit everybody 🤍

I also want to know what you guys would love to see?
What content are you missing on your page? Can i bring that for you?

Let me know what you are after and let’s build this community together 🤍

Who’s ready?

Little update 🤍

Hey hey people!! It has been a while since I posted. To be honest I have felt like I haven’t got much to say. Like writing a post was becoming some chore which is never something I wanted from this account. I absolutely love being open & honest with my followers sooo here we go!!

I am teaching twice a week but other than that I don’t have much of a regular practice at the minute and that makes me sad. I practice at home online at times but it’s never regular.

Sometimes you just ‘forget’ what your passions are and it’s easy to lose yourself in the busyness of the world!!

I do want to get back into my yoga & moving my body in that magical way!!

Mentally I have been struggling recently too and that’s ok !! Riding the waves of the ups and downs and surrounding myself with those close to me as always 🖤 Mental Health is not something that just goes away. I knew coming off medication was gonna mean that when I had my troubles they would be challenges I have to overcome, but i will do it (with or without medication)

Summer is coming which means lighter days (often associated with being happier) but we know that’s not always the case!!! What I will be doing is making sure I get out every day to enjoy that fresh air and I urge you all to do the same!!

anyways

Ride the waves. Embrace the changes. Remind yourself of what makes you happy and follow that!!

I promise I won’t take several months to post again!

Since January I have been weaning myself off of my anti-depressants. I have just done a whole week without taking my anti depressants for the first time since November 2018.

I feel like I am at a stage where I have grown to be able to cope and manage my anxiety after years of struggling with it. This is not to say I won’t have any battles going forward because I am sure I will - but I believe that I have now got the capability to deal with these battles without my medication.

Feeling proud of myself for being able to come off of the tablets after debating it for so long with the GP - My tablets helped me for so long and I am so grateful for that. I started taking them at a time where my anxiety was so severe I was getting such bad physical symptoms, I couldn’t eat much and I was at Uni - I was grateful to be living with my best friends at the time who helped me through it all and supported me when I started taking them.

Since starting my job I have learnt just how important support systems are for your mental health and I am beyond grateful to of had such a strong group of friends around me when I needed it the most (girls u know who u are and i love you all endlessly)

This post is just a reminder to say that YOU have got this. It might seem scary now but believe me you have got this and you will get through it & come out shining on the other side.

Don’t be scared to speak to your friends and open up - they are your rocks and they will help you.

New Year New Beginnings…

So excited to share that I will be teaching at Anytime Fitness in Moor Allerton, Leeds every Wednesday at 7:30-8:15 from the 2nd of Feb…

I took a break from teaching due to me losing my love & passion for it but i have promised myself that this year I will reclaim that love and get back into the teaching world.

I am so excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to see some new & friendly faces in my classes!

Thanks for all the love & support ❣️

It’s that time of year where everyone starts to obsess over resolutions and changing to become a better version of themselves. Often we become very strict on ourselves which ultimately leaves us feeling defeated when we may not stick to this outrageous goal we set ourself on Jan 1st.

My new years resolution is to just be happy and enjoy. The last year has been very challenging for a lot of us, our mental health has suffered and I think all of us are just gasping for a breath of fresh air in the new year.

I am grateful for what I have learnt this last year. I have learnt just how strong I am and I cannot wait to continue building that strength in 2022.

I am grateful that I get to start the new year with my new job which I love, my friends and my family.

This year I promise to not put pressure on myself. I know what I want & I know that I will get there in the end but ‘it’s a marathon not a sprint’ and we are in no rush.

Thank you for all the support this past year & I can’t wait to see what 2022 brings for my Namast4my community ❣️

Dr Alex ™️]

I remember when I first started talking my medication for my anxiety / depression. It was second year Uni and I was so ashamed and embarrassed I didn’t know who I could tell at all. I thought all my friends would judge me and talk about me and treat me differently.

I chose a select few and kept it very quiet for a while until i started to realise that it isn’t something to be ashamed of at all.

I was taking something to help me out. To help me with my struggles. I should be proud of myself for taking that step for my mental health and not ashamed.

It took a while but eventually it became something I could talk about without feeling shy or embarrassed. Now, I tell a lot of people. I want people to know that it’s completely ok and you’re making a change to your life for the better. You are helping your mental health.

Thank you Dr Alex ™️] for creating this campaign to reduce the stigma on anti depressants.
