We recently hosted a birthday celebration for our lovely Sheila where we enjoyed delicious food and drinks, lots of laughter and die some there was even a little dance in the lounge afterwards!
We really enjoy celebrating each other at Sunley and it's even more enjoyable for residents when they can bring lots of people that they care about together and share their special moments with both their families and their Sunley friends 🩷 🎉🎂🎈

The Great ExtraCare Bake off !!
This year our entries decreased significantly from last year , however the quality of those entries did not..
We had the most wonderful afternoon together, tasting some delicious bakes and raising money for Macmillan 💚
Our judges all did a wonderful job and our winner was absolutely worthy.
In First place , we had Robin and Kelly with their incredible Canadian Blueberry Pie - it was unbelievably good and the pastry was like nothing I've ever tried before 😍
Next up was Wendy and Julie with their Scones. Absolutely beautiful!
In third place we had Margaret with her Scottish shortbread. A beautiful texture and wonderful taste. This was very closely followed by Bills savoury option. Beef and vegetable pie which was absolutely packed with flavour.
A huge well done to everyone that took part and a big thanks to our judges.
Robin and Kelly's entry will now be submitted to compete against the other winners from our ExtraCare location, who all hosted their own Macmillan bake off today too.
Keep your fingers and toes crossed for them 🤞

September is RECYCLE & REUSE month. .♻️♻️
This is something we truly support at Sunley. We are so aware that recycling as much as we can makes a huge difference to the planet for the future generations. That's why, in addition to the standard recycling bins , we have a vast amount of alternative recycling options available at Sunley. Everything from batteries, to Britta water filters, single use plastic to eye glasses and not forgetting - Bra's
If we can recycle we will.
We are also big on reusing. That may be repurposing things for crafts or for the garden or it may be our Sunley Swop Shop!
Every few months we host a swop shop. Residents bring down any unwanted clothes , shoes or household items to display and other residents, staff, volunteers or visitors can come and shop thoese items for free. Anything left behind fter a few days will be donated to the charity shop. It's a win win .
It's the perfect excuse for a big clear out, people get to revamp their wardrobes and homes free of charge, and we keep lots of items out of landfill.

We took some of the residents on a trip to the Carpet baggers Aviation museum in Harrington at the weekend.
I cannot recommend this place enough. I had No idea that this hidden gem was on our doorstep or how important the missions that took place from here were.
It was amazing to see all of that history and the staff were unbelievably knowledgeable and helpful.
If you are local, it's worth a visit! Our residents really enjoyed it.
