Please see the below appeal from Northamptonshire Police.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for witnesses following a fatal hit and run collision in Northamptonshire.

Detectives want to hear from motorists who may have seen a pedestrian along the A43, between Rockingham Road and Junction 7 of the A14, between 7pm on Wednesday (October 15) and 6.50am yesterday (Thursday, October 16).

Northamptonshire Police were called at around 8am by a member of the public who had seen a man lying in the undergrowth of the southbound carriageway.

Emergency services attended, however, sadly the man in his 40s, had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are appealing for the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident or anyone who knows their identity, to get in touch urgently.

They are also appealing for people who were travelling towards the A14 - even if they did not see anything - to contact police and provide detectives with any dash-cam footage to assist the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Sebastian Greschner of SCIU, said: “This is a very busy dual carriageway linking the north of the county to the A14 and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, particularly if you have dash-cam footage which could assist with our enquiries. Even if you have not seen anything we need your dash-cam footage of the journey from Rockingham Road and the A14.

“It is also vital that we trace the driver of the vehicle to not only check on their welfare, but to find out what happened, and we would appeal to them or anyone who can help identify them to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to email CollisionAppeals@northants.police.uk or call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615, or Northamptonshire Police on 101.

Please quote incident number 25000607632 when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.

It’s Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Day! 🎉

Did you know AHPs make up the third largest clinical workforce across the NHS? From dietitians and orthoptists to paramedics and speech and language therapists, these degree-level professionals are at the heart of health and care services.

The theme for this year’s AHPs day is around the three strategic shifts for the NHS, as listed in the NHS long term plan. These are:

🔵 Hospital to community
🔵 Treatment to prevention
🔵 Analogue to digital

AHPs play a crucial role in making these changes happen. Today is a great chance to shout about their impact - whether that’s raising awareness of their vital work, sharing local success stories, or showing how teamwork across services is helping patients and communities thrive.

If you’re curious about a career as an Allied Health Professional, or just want to know more, today’s the perfect day to find out.

Let’s celebrate our amazing AHPs and the difference they make every day.

We have undertaken two live-streamed robotic colorectal cancer operations to support the education of surgeons at both KGH and NGH.

Two local patients with colorectal cancer consented to support the event. They were operated on at Northampton General Hospital while their operations were live-streamed into the Cripps Education Centre, also at NGH, one on October 9, and one on October 10.

The live-streamed operations formed part of a two-day robotic surgical symposium where consultants, colorectal surgeons, and senior doctors from Northamptonshire, the rest of the UK, and Portugal, met and took part in a range of events, lectures, discussions, and presentations.

The University Hospitals of Northamptonshire – which runs both Kettering and Northampton general hospitals – arranged the event as a way of teaching its own medical teams complex robotic surgery procedures while also enabling surgeons from other areas to learn state-of-the-art surgical procedures.

Semi-retired businessman David McLoughlin, 62, from Braunston near Daventry, had his procedure at NGH on October 9 and was able to go home only three days later on October 12.

While the live-streamed operations were carried out anonymously Mr McLoughlin, was happy to reveal his identity and describe his support for the surgical symposium.

Happy Coming Out Day. Today, is coming out day - a time for us to stand together with members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to remind each other that you are not alone.

For some, coming out is simply correcting a misconception or introducing your partner. For others, it can be a daunting journey, with fears of discrimination or judgement. Every coming out story is unique and personal - whether it happens with friends, family, at work, or elsewhere.

John is one of the co-chairs of our Pride Network “It’s been nearly 60 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in the UK. Over those years, there have been many advances for the LGBTQ community – from equal age of consent, equal marriage to reforms to the gender recognition certificate”.

The Pride Network is one of several employee-led networks that promote diversity and inclusion and drive organisational change.

“However, for many people it can still be a daunting task to come out to friends and family with their sexuality or gender identity. International Coming Out day also acts as a beacon to other LGBTQ people to show they are not alone”.

It’s not a one-time event; many LGBTQ+ individuals come out to their closest friends and family, work colleagues or schoolfriends.

On coming out day, let's support each other and celebrate authenticity, courage, and love. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

For local LGBTQ+ groups please check out Q Space ,the lowdown , and Youth Works who can offer support and signposting. For national organisations, check Stonewall and the LGBT Foundation (This list is not exhaustive).

We’re proud to share that KGH Radio, the community radio station serving patients, staff, and visitors at Kettering General Hospital, has been honoured with a Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) Midlands Award. 🏆

They won the award for Best Community-Focused Hospital Radio Station 2025 (East Midlands). This award recognises more than just broadcasting excellence, it celebrates the station’s heartfelt contribution to the wellbeing of our hospital community.

Chairman Steve Bellamy said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this award. It is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and passion of our volunteer team, who give their time freely to bring comfort and entertainment to patients and staff every single day.

KGH Radio is proud to be part of the hospital community, and this award will inspire us to continue developing our services and reaching even more people.”

Run entirely by volunteers, KGH Radio broadcasts live and pre-recorded programmes seven days a week, offering companionship and joy to those who may be feeling isolated or anxious during their hospital stay.

Whether it’s a favourite song, a cheerful voice, or a familiar story, the station helps patients feel more connected, reminding them they’re not alone.
