National Wellness Month Tip:
Hydrate and Thrive
With this unexpected mini heatwave in the UK, it’s time to turn hydration into your self-care superpower.
August reminds us to prioritise self-care, build healthy routines, and nurture mental, physical, and emotional wellness—and staying hydrated is a beautiful step in that journey.
The NHS recommends you drink every day, 6–8 cups (around 2 litres) of fluid—water, lower-fat milk, tea, sugar-free drinks, all count toward supporting your well-being
Why it matters:
• Water helps regulate your body temperature, cushions your joints, lubricates tissues, hydrolyses food, flushes out toxins, and supports nutrient transport
• Even mild dehydration can impair memory, focus, mood, and overall mental clarity. Remaining hydrated impacts brain health, by sharper thinking, better mood, and less anxiety
• For the skin, optimal hydration plumps, brightens, and smooths the skin, supporting that healthy glow
Simple hydration ritual:
Begin your day with a mindful sip of water. I start my day with a mug of hot water flavoured with fresh slices of lemon and ginger, refreshing and cleansing.
Forming habits around mindful sips, and cultivating gratitude for water's healing power, feel it nourish your skin, calm your mind, and anchor your rhythm.
Make hydration a daily act of beauty, grounding, and relaxation.
