What's happening when you fall asleep during reflexology?

If you drift off during your treatment, it's a lovely sign.

Your nervous system has shifted out of 'stress mode' and into 'rest and repair'. This is when the body really resets - stress hormones drop, muscles soften, breathing slows, and the body starts focusing on healing instead of coping.

Your brain moves into slower, calmer waves (like meditation), allowing a deep relaxation and emotional release.

And yes... even snoring is a compliment 😁. It means your body feels safe, supported, and completely relaxed.

So please don't apologise - your body is doing exactly what it needs to do.

A client came to see me today for her regular reflexology session. She was feeling particularly low and was looking forward to her treatment. During the session, she experienced noticeable relaxation in her shoulders, neck and face. She also became aware of her jaw unclenching, realising how much tension she had been holding.
Reflexology encourages the body to relax deeply, helping release tension we often carry unconsciously.
She said "as my jaw was unclenching, it made me smile and feel happy."
After feeling low, beforehand, she left feeling lighter and happier.
Moments like this are another reason why I love being a reflexologist.

Client was happy for me to share this.

Many people misunderstand Reflexology as simply a way to relax but it's so much more.
Through observation, assessment and an understanding of anatomy and physiology, reflexology supports the body's ability to move out of stress and into regulation, where rest, repair and healing can take place.

Sometimes, clients tell me they have tender or painful areas on their feet. This is very common and not something to be concerned about.

Reflexology maps areas of the foot to organs, muscles, or systems in the body. When a spot feels sore or tender, it may be linked to:
• Tension, stress, or imbalance in the corresponding body area
• Congestion (poor circulation or lymphatic buildup)
• Reduced circulation or mobility in that area
• A system that's been overused or under stress, not necessarily "ill"
• Dehydration (connective tissues become more tender)
• High nerve density (some nerves are simply more sensitive)

These tender spots often soften with regular reflexology. This is a lovely sign that the body is responding, rebalancing and letting go.

Your body speaks through your feet, hands and face. Reflexology simply listens to your body and supports where needed.

Clients often tell me that the thing they love most about their reflexology treatment is how deeply relaxed they feel - not just during the session, but long after they leave.
This is why I love my job as a reflexologist. Every day I get to help people slow down, switch off, and feel more like themselves again. I often hear the same words at the end of the treatment: "I don't want to move, can I just stay here?" And "I feel like my headache has literally melted away" and many more in the picture shown. I just love helping people feel great in themselves 🥰

Wishing all my clients a very Happy New Year. May 2026 bring you calm, comfort and good health. I look forward to supporting your wellness journey in the year ahead.

As the new year approaches, the messages get louder - Reset. Reinvent. Become someone better.

But here’s a quieter truth worth holding onto:
you are already enough!

You don’t need dramatic gestures or public declarations of change to be worthy. You don’t need to overhaul your life to prove growth. Most meaningful shifts don’t happen in grand moments. They happen in small, private ways that actually honour who you are.

Winter asks something different of us.

In nature, this is a season of hibernation, conservation, and rest. Animals don’t push for transformation in the cold. They slow down, draw inward, and preserve their energy so life can return in its own time.

We’re not meant to be any different.

Small choices that matter to you - a little more rest, a gentler pace, listening to your body - will always be more sustaining than performative change made for the outside world.

Growth doesn’t have to be loud.
Healing doesn’t have to be visible.

Reflexology is rooted in this same belief - that the body has an innate wisdom, and that balance is supported through gentleness, not force.

Give yourself the same grace you’d give nature in winter.
You’re allowed to rest here 🌱

Anyone else floating in that space where you don’t know what day it is, leftovers are a food group, and motivation is… optional?

If you’re feeling a bit flat right now, you’re not alone.

After all the build-up, connection, noise, expectation and adrenaline of Christmas, this in-between space can feel strangely heavy.

The decorations are still up, but the energy has shifted.
The house is quieter.
The routine hasn’t quite returned.
And the body finally realises it can exhale.

That low, foggy, unmotivated feeling isn’t a personal failing. It’s often just your nervous system coming down after weeks of stimulation.

Nothing needs to be decided.
Nothing needs to be improved.
And you don’t need to have any clarity about the year ahead yet.

This is a time for softness, not self-judgement.
For rest, not reinvention.

Gentle support can help the body feel safe enough to rebalance in its own time, whether that’s rest, warmth, quiet, or therapeutic touch

Wherever you are in these days between Christmas and New Year, be kind to yourself. This pause has a purpose 🤍💜

Wishing all of my lovely clients a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, relaxing New Year.

Thank you for your continued support and for allowing me to be part of your wellness journey. I look forward to welcoming you again in the New Year.

Warmest wishes

Cold weather often brings stiffness, sluggish circulation, fatigue, and seasonal mood changes - areas where reflexology can offer relief.

Winter brings festivities and cosy evenings, but it can also bring sinus pressure, stiff joints, low energy and higher stress. ❄️

Reflexology offers a gentle, complementary way to support your body through these seasonal challenges, with growing research exploring its effects on pain, circulation, stress and quality of life.

Sinus pressure & congestion:
Reflexology techniques on the sinus and head reflex areas are often used to help ease facial tension and promote relaxation. Clinical studies show reflexology can reduce discomfort and support overall wellbeing in people experiencing headaches and sinus-related symptoms, making it a helpful complementary option during cold season.

Stiff joints & cold-weather aches:
Cold temperatures often lead to stiffness and reduced mobility. Research in clinical groups shows reflexology can reduce perceived musculoskeletal pain and increase relaxation, which may help make joint discomfort feel more manageable during winter months.

Circulation & cold extremities:
Winter often slows circulation, leaving hands and feet feeling colder. Studies using heart-rate variability and physiological measures suggest reflexology may improve autonomic balance and promote better blood flow, supporting warmth and overall circulation.

Respiratory wellness:
Reflexology doesn’t treat infections, but work on reflex areas associated with the lungs and chest can encourage relaxation in the respiratory muscles. Research in supportive-care settings reports improved comfort and reduced breath-related anxiety, which can be helpful when winter colds affect breathing ease.

Low mood & fatigue:
Shorter days can impact energy and mood. Several trials show that reflexology can reduce fatigue and improve quality of life and emotional wellbeing in different populations.

Sleep quality:
Good sleep is one of the strongest protectors of winter health. Multiple studies and reviews have found that reflexology can improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety, helping the body rest, repair and maintain stronger resilience.

If you’d like a natural way to feel more balanced this season, reflexology is a soothing place to start. 👣💜
