Kettering Mind

Kettering Mind We are Kettering Mind, your local mental health charity. We’ll listen, give you support and advice and fight your corner.

We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone, so we’re here for you whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis or just want some ideas about how to look after your mental health. We are a registered charity affiliated to National Mind who are dedicated to supporting and empowering anyone experiencing a mental health problem, through a wide variety of services.

Great mental health care isn’t just clinical, it’s human.

It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about rent and too unwell to work. It’s the advisor who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. It’s the therapist who talks through what’s happened to you, not what’s ‘wrong’ with you.

Mind’s experts are the heart of human care for mental health, treating people as individuals, not statistics and seeing a person, where others might just see a patient. They know their communities, know their needs and go the extra mile to deliver quality care, when people need it most.

This Mental Health Awareness Week (11-17 May), help us continue providing life-changing support that really does make a difference.

Together we can make sure no mind gets left behind.

This week is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 💙

It’s a time to raise awareness of mental health challenges that can affect women during pregnancy and after having a baby and to remind everyone that support is available, and no one has to face things alone.

Becoming a parent can bring a mix of emotions, and it’s okay if things don’t always feel how you expected. Reaching out for support is a positive step, whether that’s talking to someone you trust or accessing local services.

At Kettering Mind, we’re here to support you. If you or someone you know might be struggling, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Let’s keep the conversation going, break the stigma, and support one another 💙

🧼✨ It’s World Hand Hygiene Day! ✨🧼

Clean hands save lives. Good hand hygiene is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of infections and protect those around us.

At Kettering Mind, we’re committed to keeping our community safe. Starting with the basics, like proper handwashing.

Remember to:

🖐️ Wash your hands regularly with soap and water

⏱️ Scrub for at least 20 seconds

🧴 Use hand sanitiser when soap isn’t available

Let’s all play our part in keeping each other healthy.

Rest is productive.

It’s easy to feel like you always need to be doing something whether that's working, studying, catching up, pushing through. But rest isn’t wasted time. It’s what helps your mind and body recover, reset, and keep going.

Taking a break isn’t falling behind. It’s part of moving forward.

So if you need to slow down today, that’s okay. You’re not doing nothing, you’re recharging. 💙

Today’s feedback comes from an Individual who attended our anxiety management course.

“Knowledge is power and learning to understand your anxiety and that it’s normal has helped me understand myself better. Having a positive teacher has really helped.”

This course aims to better understand individual’s experience of anxiety and what they can do to reduce the impact it has on their life and improve their wellbeing. Find out more about this course and how to refer using the link below. 👇

Tomorrow is the start of Meaningful May, so lets find ways to be part of something bigger.

Happiness isn’t something you wait for, it’s something you practice. During May lets practice happiness by doing some of the following 👇

🔹Check in on someone you care about

🔹Spend time outside, even if it’s just a short walk

🔹Put your phone down and be present

🔹Do one small thing that moves you forward

🔹Be kinder to yourself in your thoughts

Small actions, repeated daily, quietly build a meaningful life. 💙

Today is Stop Food Waste Day 🌍🍽️

Around a third of all food produced globally is never eaten. It is wasted in our homes, shops, and supply chains, while millions of people face worries about food levels every day. Food waste isn’t just about what’s left on our plates; it’s also wasted water, energy, labour, and resources that went into producing it.

But the good news? Change starts with us. Here are a few simple ways we can all make an impact 👇

🥕 Plan meals and shop with intention

🥡 Store food properly to extend its life

🍲 Love your leftovers and get creative!

📅 Understand “use by” vs “best before” dates

🤝 Share surplus food with friends, neighbours, or local food banks

Reducing food waste helps fight climate change, saves money, and supports a more sustainable future for everyone. Let’s value every bite and be part of the solution. 💙

Don't forget about these brilliant groups in our local community. 👇

All of these groups have been set up by Community Wellbeing Champions who are looking to make a positive difference in our local community. These champions are part of our Community Wellbeing Champion service and have undertaken training with Callum from Kettering Mind.

There is an ADHD peer support group, a single parents support group and a social support group for women all in Kettering. There is also a peer support group for young women aged 16-25 in Desborough. Take a look at the posters to see if any of these sound beneficial to you, if so why not give it a go! We are extremely proud of these Community Wellbeing Champions who are bringing such positive groups to the local area 💙
