Kettering Mind

Kettering Mind We are Kettering Mind, your local mental health charity. We’ll listen, give you support and advice and fight your corner.

We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone, so we’re here for you whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis or just want some ideas about how to look after your mental health. We are a registered charity affiliated to National Mind who are dedicated to supporting and empowering anyone experiencing a mental health problem, through a wide variety of services.

Today is National Coming Out Day!

Sharing our authentic selves with others is not always safe or easy, and it is not a one-day event, but when possible, it can be an extraordinarily powerful key to breaking down the barriers many LGBTQ+ people face.

Race, ethnicity, language, religion, culture, gender expression, sexual orientation and gender identity should never be barriers to us living our full lives. Coming out or inviting someone in is a personal choice and is often a significant part of reclaiming this right and living in our identity publicly. We all deserve the right to live our lives genuinely, completely and honestly. 🏳️‍🌈💙

Todays feedback comes from an Individual who attended our understand yourself better course.

"Michelle and Barbara have helped me understand and given me clarity on how and why my anxiety affects me physically and mentally. Therefore now I am not afraid of my symptoms, along with new medication, my anxiety has practically disappeared. I am so grateful to Michelle and Barbara for everything that they have taught me. Thank you again".

This course is a cycle of workshops designed to help you understand more about why you are experiencing difficulties at the moment, and why things might be a struggle for you. See the link below for more information about this service and how to refer.

Today is World Mental Health Day, but we want everyone to understand that mental health is important every day. Together we can make sure everyone sees it that way.

Mental health is more than a small part of our lives – it’s every moment of every day. It’s a hard day’s work and a catch-up with friends. It’s when you become a parent and the day you lose someone you love. It’s the times you reach out for support and the years you spend on a waiting list. It’s the fight for a mental health system that works and hospitals that are safe.

Today we will be out raising awareness in Tesco from 10:30-13:00 and were currently at the Kettering market square untill 4pm. We fight every day, to support more people tomorrow. We are here for you. 💙

Outreach is an important part of what we do. Getting out into the community and reducing barriers to support is crucial in ensuring anyone experiencing a mental health problem is able to access support. We are working alongside many different local organisations to reduce these barriers. From visiting local businesses supporting staff to hosting stalls at community events.

Our outreach worker Callum went to the Tresham College freshers fair recently alongside our mental health navigators Jen and Cory to provide advice and guidance to the student. On the day we spoke with over 100 students and had a really positive day out! We always aim to bring a bit of hope and reassurance to everyone we meet, we are here for you when you need us. 💙

October is ADHD awareness month which aims provide reliable information and resources to help people thrive with ADHD. The 2025 theme is - The Many Faces of ADHD. The aim is to show a bit more about the different experiences those with ADHD may face, for example 👇

🔹difficulty concentrating

🔹tend to fidget

🔹forgetful

🔹sometimes make impulsive decisions

This isn’t a complete list of all symptoms, but they are some of the symptoms which are also common in mental health problems. Lots of the main symptoms of ADHD are things that impact your behaviour, mood, and thinking. So you might be misdiagnosed with a mental health problem like depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or a personality disorder.

Two new support groups are coming to Kettering!

We are proud to announce that two new support groups are starting next week! These groups have been set up by two Community Wellbeing Champions who are looking to make a positive difference in our local community. These champions are part of our Community Wellbeing Champion service and have undertaken training with Callum from Kettering Mind.

Gingerbread has been set up by a lady called Beckie, this is a peer support group for single parents. The idea of this group is to create an environment where single parents can discuss challenges, offload and support each other.

We Women Matter is a support group for women looking to connect with other women in a safe space. If your feeling lonely, experiencing difficulties or looking to create friendships then drop-in! This group has been set up by another Community Wellbeing Champion Lauren.

See both images for times and locations of both groups. A huge well done to both Beckie and Lauren who are hoping to make a positive difference within our local community! 💙

Today’s feedback comes from an Individual who attended our anxiety management course.

“I have learnt new skills and approaches, but I need to put these into practice. I think when I do they could help a lot. It has been good to speak openly and feel listened to.”

This course aims to better understand individual’s experience of anxiety and what they can do to reduce the impact it has on their life and improve their wellbeing. Find out more about this course and how to refer using the link below.
